I agree fb is not even in the sink. People get all their news,sports and weather and most important political news from Facebook.
People are addicted to it. Guys at work at break time get on Facebook. I sure don’t get that

Why is Congress investigating this ? If an agreement between Facebook and its users was broken isn’t that a civil matter at best ? Help me understand what jurisdiction or oversight authority Congress has ?

I knew from the start that FB is a data mining site.
But I left out a lot of info.
Did NOT give them my address, phone number, etc, and used a throwaway email address.

But I do like being in touch with people from my past that geography is the only reason we got out of touch.
PLUS it's fun giving the lefties a hard time.

Why do they investigate steroid use in major league baseball? I guess we should be thankful that they waste their time on things like this. Means they're not using their time to screw up important things.

The only people on my Facebook are those I served with and family. Otherwise those I served with 12 yrs go would become distance memories.

I use Facebook daily to communicate with friends and family, and I don't see it going anywhere soon. Not sure what is involved in the data breach, but if word gets out what my spirit animal is or what I looked at on Amazon last week, I really could not care less.

Aaaand Facebook suddenly realizes yet another method that unscrupulous people have accessed users' personal information. They even assume that EVERYONES' account has been "scraped". They won't respond to question why they are just now revealing this.

I can opt out of FB, by never having a profile, but Equifax can’t be opted out of, so that breach is of far more concern to me!

This is true. I've never been on facebook but my info is probably just as vulnerable. Unfortunately data breaches are here to stay.

I had my Facebook account deleted a few years ago when an update changed my privacy setting from friends only to public. I lost all faith.

Maybe FB should ask me if I want my data sold and if so then offer me a dollar value attached per month to the use of my browsing data for statistical purposes.
