Oh, don't you think that's a little heavy? That's just people behaving badly. You see it at gas stations, Wal-Marts, the BMV, inter alia. It has always been with us.

Something cops have to deal with every day, baby sitting the world and all that.

Pretty much, I think there may be more of this type of behavior now than before (but I have no proof of that) but what is definitely reality is that there is more of it being recorded and then shared with the masses, which is it's own stupidity.

A good reason to have your pizzas delivered. The only time there's anything close to a fight breaking out where we like to eat pizza is if the wife takes the nacho cheese instead of the cheddar cheese sauce. :)

There used to be a concept in society called "shame", as in "I'd be ashamed of myself if I acted like that" or "if my Mom knew I did that I'd be ashamed".

It's all but gone. Now everyone is the star of their own reality show (something else that previous generations would be ashamed of) and everyone else needs to make way for them.

Speaking of Walmart, I went there the other day...a rarity...maybe its 20% or less of the people who look like inbred, slack-jawed yokels, but those are the ones you notice. You know the types I mean...walking around with the look on their face like an average 7 year old trying to factor quadratic equations in their heads.

One day my Dad (who is in his 70's) asked me, "How did the Khardashian's get famous?"

I thought about it and said, "Well their Dad was O.J.'s lawyer and then his oldest daughter had a sex tape get leaked out with her and some famous guy and it kind of took off from there.." (I don't know the details and I am sure I may have missed something...)

He kind of looked at me funny and said, "So her dad helped a murderer avoid justice and she made a porn tape?"

    "Pretty much..."

He just grunted and said, "There was a time that would've ruined them...And it wasn't that long ago...Now days that's your ticket to wealth and fame...God help us son...God help us..."

The sad part is not only are they "famous" but they have also reaped some serious $$ from all if it as well. Though, I'd say it probably says more (or as much) about the people who buy into them than the Kardashains themselves in some way. I just can't seem to really care about the Cult of Personality much anymore.

I was in the Valpo Walmart a while back, may have been summer. Dude was walking around wearing a shirt that said. "I pooped today". WTF.

Shame and fear of father. I cannot imagine the beating I would have received for being arrested for fighting in public like that. Heck, he still may be able to do it.

I was raised with the words--just as many others here were--"if you go to jail, I will leave you in there."

Bingo. I had a serious fear/respect factor for LEOs but my worst fear was my parents.

I lived most in fear of these words: "we're disappointed in you."

This is why I lead a boring life at undergrad even though they were 60 miles away on the westside of Indy. Had the opportunity to do stupid crap, but that scenario kept ringing in my nearly empty head.

Drinking beer at Varsity Villa during the Little 5 year when the fires started (the arsons of '91 when they set the mailboxes on fire and then it spread). I saw the first smoke plume, poured my beer over the side the deck, put my cigarette out and ran to catch up to my buddy and hike home.

As the fire trucks, ambulances and cops whizzed by, all I could think of is my parents reaction for me being caught up in that nonsense.

Dad's exact words "don't waste your phone call on me. I'm not coming to get you." Went to an off campus party in TH one night. got there and they were charging at the gate to the yard for beer, the garage was awash in weed smoke. My buddy and I turned around and started to leave. 2 female friends were leaving at the same time so we gave them a ride. Got a block away when the 2 paddy wagons and 6 cars showed up. Burned into my brain to not be in the wrong place at any time.
