None of that is desirable, but as we'll certainly not see legalization of cannabis in my lifetime in order to be consistent it seems to me that we must prohibit all recreational psychoactives.

In other words I don't actually support any of that. I was making a rhetorical point about the logic of our drug laws.

logic and drug laws. two words that don't belong in the same sentence.

But then again, recreational drug use and logic prolly aren't close kin either.:dunno:

There is a point at which we agree after all! While I do not partake of anything generally considered to be a drug or to be addictive, I certainly do not believe it is any of the .gov's business. Even with a personal choice with which I disagree, I believe that liberty ultimately comes down to affording others the right to be wrong so long as they are not harming anyone else in the process.

For all the bashing conservatives give socialism, they sure believe in socialism of the human body.

You're thinking of totalitarianism. We tried socialism of the human body back in the 60's, but that was pre-AIDS. ;)

One of the biggest reasons marijuana is still illegal is because of industries that don't want hemp to become a competition for their products. As with most of our laws, logic and reason hold no place in their implementation. They are in place because of money.

Just going to point this out, hemp and marijuana aren't exactly the same thing. And hemp is legal.
