Alright then Scutter is more techno nerd then I am and looks like he checked it out faster then I was able too.

It didn't have all the NRA contact info at the bottom and when I called they said they didn't have a membership bonus going on right now unless you purchased then 1 year free with purchase so I didn't want a bunch of INGO members getting bit.

    Thanks for double checking it!

so does that mean I just wait until they call me to say, Hey! remember that thing to signed up for? How do you want to pay for it?

hehehe... well, it's a free year membership, but you can expect a call anytime soon to renew for the next year... They are REALLY good at letting you know your membership is about to expire...

I don't really see the advantage of a free membership to the NRA anyway. They are essentially a lobbying organization. "Membership" is really just a contribution to the lobbying effort. There is little in the way of benefit otherwise. Just pay the money for membership is you are in harmony with what the NRA is doing.

Well, whether you appreciate what the NRA does or doesn't do, some times you need the membership to obtain memberships to something else. For example, in order to join Hamilton County Fish & Game you have to have an up to date NRA membership.

Plus there are member discounts and such. I understood it that they want larger numbers and are willing to forgo the membership cost temporarily to get the numbers. I agree with the NRA, but can't afford the membership cost at the moment. Too far down my list.

I'm glad that it wasn't a fake, I'd have felt bad if people got fished. It looked legit to me.

I've been meaning to join, so I joined and paid the membership fee so they get my money to fight those sons-of-bitches.

I've never totally agreed with the NRA, but they are the best hope to fight right now (IMO).

I agree with them, but I got jilted out of a membership a couple years ago, so if I get this free one, I'll feel vindicated.

My sister bought me a "gift" membership. They cashed her check and never gave me anything. We called to complain and they wanted my SSN, which was REALLY weird and we said so, but thought, "hey, it's just the NRA," so we did, and we still never got it.

All I've ever gotten is constant telemarketer calls asking me to renew membership, and when I complain, they go "oh yeah, call this other number to complain."

I got tired and said "screw it" :).
