Put most of the garden to bed - freeze likely tonight.
Dug up the rest of the sweet potatoes. Got some real strange ones:

    Those are some strange taters.

I'm waiting for a couple good frosts so I can dig my horseradish roots, and waiting for the leaves to fall so I can plant my garlic for next year.

I've always planted mine in the fall, just because that's what I read. I probably should plant some earlier next year, as a test, and compare their growth with the others planted later.

I usually plant them just after I begin to rake leaves, so I can mulch them, but I've planted as late as middle of December with good results too.

Still have bunch of green tomatoes .
Just came in to warm up my fingers.

I'm just inside thawing out for a few. I need to wash those bell peppers with the hose and pick the japs and reapers. Not looking forward to it, the wind is wicked...

Picked what will likely be the last cherry tomatoes yesterday. Dug up and potted my herbs to bring inside. The collard greens and kale were decimated by bugs earlier but have gotten strong secondary growth. Hoping they carry through.

We had a big freeze so the only thing probably left will be the kale... maybe some turnip and mustard greens, will have to see how they do.

26 degrees here last night for hours. Hoping the root crops, broccoli and brussels made it. Along with enough dill to flavor some ferments.

Dug some horseradish and pulled some beets today. Also discovered all the dill hadn't got frostbite. Makes a tasty ferment with onions and garlic...

Picked a bag of spinach and a bag of kale yesterday. Looks like all the greens weathered the freeze. Picked a big bucket of carrots to store.

Pressure canned some kale. It was 5 degrees when picked, and if dropped it shattered like Corelle. It was interesting (and cold) removing it from the stems. No bugs or caterpillars!
Processed the last of the Brussels sprouts.
Also made dried apple rings. Apples from the nearby semi-wild tree.

I'm not much for no talk vids that play only background music, but this one has me intruiged. Might have to give it a try. I have always had trouble growing respectable garlic bulbs, so I use a lot of the greens, which grow just fine for me...
