The reason why small shops will go under is because they can't buy in large quantities AND pay for store front overhead like Buds and others. A business has to adapt to the customer and the culture. As an example if you refuse or can't aquire your customers the use of debit as way of payment then don't complain when you can't get folks in your store. We all know that online for sales is where it's at. It's convenience for the consumer and smart business model. Instead of investing in a store front, buy more at lower cost so you can sell at lower cost than the guy with a store front. Why go against what the majority do and charge higher prices? Then expect to make it.

I was in there last Thursday, one of the last days they were going to be open. According to Dean, they had a lot of problems with the employees selling guns to friends and others for massive discounts that caused them lose money. It sounded like there was some major issues between staff and management, everyone walked out at the same time. He said they will continue their online sales, but were closing the store due to major losses.

I would again like to say that I in no way want to stir up controversy on this issue. The reason the employees all left collaboratively was due to an underlying issue beyond their control. That will never be brought up by anyone still working there who intends to keep their job/friendship with the owner. Business is business, and friendships will either overcome that, or suffer. Unfortunately, the friendships between the employees that left and the owner have suffered, hence the harsh words.

"there will always be someone ELSE to blame"

I've got 3 suppressors pending with them. I'm probably screwed

They can update and change address to their class 3 FFL to their home address, also update the transfer address on each of the forms are currently pending.

There isn't much you can do about it except trying to contact them.

Same thing happened to me with Midwest in Clermont, still pending.

Correct, and it is my assumption that they are going to see it through as long as local ATF is behind the decision... From what I understand that is the plan.

We'll see more and more of these shops closing up in next few years. Salad days for sellers are over. Folks aren't pressed to buy anything now and the small shops are gonna feel it

Expect many more to go under now that Dems were defeated. Most of the market was driven by panic to a degree. That rush prompted many folks to see dollar signs and hang a shingle. We are now over saturated with gun stores, and now that the panic is over, sales are gonna drop like crazy. Well, unless DJT goes from his current lean to pro 2A wildcard to wolf in sheeps clothing.

The only thing that will prolong their life is a (God forbid) crisis that causes the non gun owners to buy, prolonging their life.

But we cant keep up the pace we have been going the last 8 years. Its just not feasible. Call it a "market correction."

They lied to me, which makes me wonder about their business practices in the first place. I was in there a week ago and saw the slim pickings. I asked what was up and they told me they had a great Christmas season and sold most of their stock. I thought it was odd, considering Fort Liberty and others had plenty of stock after Christmas.

I don't appreciate the lie, so I'm really not sorry to see them go. No reason for the lie. Disrespectful and despicable.

What? You expected them to let the cat out of the bag to a random stranger before it was officially announced? I dont blame them. Nobody in their right mind tells a random customer that the ship is sinking before it is public knowlege. Doing so is bad business practice.

Now if they told you something like "yeah, big xmas sale. Tell ya what, if you buy a gun today, I'll give you a free 1 year membership to our range!" (assuming they had a range... but you get the picture.) you would have a beef because they were promising something they knew they couldnt fulfill. They didnt harm you in any way with the response they gave, so its no big deal. Just good business practice.

There were a LOT of good deals to be had a couple weeks ago, on what was LEFT.(not much). Their "Xmas" sale was someone toeing the company line, they(employees) haven't had inventory for a couple months, and wouldn't/couldn't order anything! The owner pretty much looted what he wanted, and now the rest is history! Hopefully he does right by the guys with NFA stuff in jail still, as has been alluded to!

I think it has a lot more to do with prices and knowledge. Not the fact they are a small gun store. People aren't in a rush to buy now. The days of 300 lcps are over. I was in a store the other day. Very large store and they wanted 350 for a standard lcp. That's just insane but all the the employees were *****ing about how sales were down and they didn't know why other than the election. I was cracking up inside listening to the bs.

Stop trying to make max profit on everything. Make a decent amount off multiple people vs trying to get it off every sale. It's economics.

This echos my thoughts on the matter. If you can't at least be close on market prices, don't expect droves of customers. The best thing about LGS's is used guns. You can often find reasonable deals and/or can haggle a good deal. The other thing you get with a LGS (at least the good ones) is good service. You can get your sights and other accessories installed, talk to someone about what upgrades might make sense, pay reasonable FFL fees to get the guns you found cheaper online, etc. I believe there will always be LGS's, but I believe only the good ones, or at least the ones with loyal customers, will remain. Just my :twocents:

I have to agree with others, the gun market has enjoyed nice profits the last 8 years, I would say within two years we will see more and more small shops close because they just can't buy as cheap as larger stores and they cannot compete with on-line retailers.

Yep, that was the place. I always got good information and service from C&C Midwest. I just wonder if they just never recovered from the break-in a couple of years ago.

When I was in there they were not very friendly. This was before the break in. I was looking at the available inventory and the pricing was a bit on the high side. I did not question it at all and responses were snarky at best.
Maybe it was just me but I do not get this much anywhere else.

I agree. The few times I was in there looking they were more interested in chatting with the Clermont Cop that seemed to always be there. This was before and after the break-in.
