I get delayed every time I buy a firearm and have purchased my last 7 pistols from RK with delay. After the usual 24 hour delay after being kicked up to an inspector, I get a phone call and go get it. I usually have to use the free 60 day layaway to buy anyhoo.

It must be specific to this management or something. I know of multiple people who have denied a gun because of a delayed background check.

First time I asked to look at a handgun at Rural King... Guy wouldn't take the trigger lock off. Claimed it was "state law" to leave it on. I said, "I guess every other shop in the state must be in violation," he said, "yeah, they are." I'm new to IN, but is this an actual law? I can't find it. Because it was impossible to judge the action/trigger that way & they obviously lost a sale...

and after you buy it they carry it to the front door for you....:n00b:

I went to the Rural King in Lafayette last fall and was not an issue asking for the trigger locks to be removed so I could handle the guns. The salesman was helping two of us at the same time. I was 50+ in age with my wife. The other guy probably around 22 with wife and 2 very small kids. The salesman was not very interested in helping the other guy though as his answers were short and he did not volunteer much info. On the other hand, I thought I was his new best buddy. First time in Rural King that day. My wife said the trigger locks did not come off for the other guy.

The Rural King in New Castle doesn't have locks on any of their firearms. I just bought a Glock 19 last month from them. Interesting thing though. They had a computer at the gun counter. You used that to fill out your 4473. They then printed off your 4473.

Guys. This is a thing because multiple occurrences of someone with pocketed ammo and loaded a gun taken out of a case, and ether offing themselves, or opening up on everyone else.

It happened in Castleton years ago at a Dicks or Galayans. Guy asked to see a shotgun, loaded a shell, and offed himself right there.

Same reason that Point Blank will not rent a gun to a shooter who is alone, shooting the first time.

The Jeffersonville store will require you to buy a locked container to take out the gun "due to it being next to a school". They won't take off the lock either, but at least they didn't claim it was a state law and was just policy.

I was also told by a rural king employee that it was a law that the firearm had to leave the gun in a case or or box and the manager had to escort you. The employees there seem to be terribly informed. I stick to an LGS. Heck Rural King won't even sell you a gun if you if you get delayed on your 4473.

Dicks too. They wont release a firearm without an explicit "proceed". Guy I talked to told me about another customer that kept getting delayed. They would never get a call back for a proceed. So even though it was legal to release it a week later when the guy returned, they insisted on calling in again, which got him another delayed response. Guy never could buy the gun.

Guess I'm a weirdo. I don't remember the last production gun I bought that didn't get some trigger work after buying? I don't even pull triggers anymore. Then again I rarely buy retail.

All is true about RK, but not all bad, bought a mossberg persuader and had to buy a gun case.. but the gentleman at the gun counter told me not to remove any tags from the gun case, take the firearm to my vehicle, return the gun case to him and he would return the cost of the gun case...liked the case, so didn't, but thought it was a good gesture. :)

For contrast, Point Blank has a new try any rental firearm with 5 free rounds free.
