I am going to buy a dedicated 5.56 can before things get too nutty with the ATF and NFA trusts. Need to input.

I am looking at the following options:

YHM Stainless 5.56 Phantom M2 QD

    Silencerco Specwar K 5.56

    AAC M4-2000

Any input? Any others I should consider? FYI...I already have a .30cal/7.62 can for my AKs and .308 bolts.

My first/only is a Gemtech Halo. I like it. It isn't exactly QD or "universal" but close to it.

The YHM was what I was looking at strongly before I decided to go multi-caliber.

I would do a QD .308 can. So it supports multi-caliber. Honestly, the 308 cans on an AR are barely noticeable louder than a dedicated 223 can. You'd have to shoot them side by side to be able to tell and even then it's not the easiest. I have an AAC 762SDN6 that I can put on my AR and it's still pretty quiet.

I regret buying my .223 can, and wish that I had purchased a .308 can instead. It would be MUCH MORE VERSITLE, especially for use with .300 blackout. There is no good, sub sonic .223 ammo that will reliably cycle a semi-auto. The ONLY way that I would recommend a .223 can would be for use on a bolt gun by someone who reloads his own ammo.

^^This^^ So glad I went with a 30cal can for my first one. I have the YHM Phantom L/T with the QD mounts. Being able to use it on multiple guns makes it a bit easier laying out the cash for one. Just keep that in mind when you finally decide to buy one.

i have the specwar k, love it. But also have a specwar 762, so i love the k bc its everything the 762 is not. The k is short/light, and only used on supersonic ammo. It also sounds fantastic, and I am also shooting the best groups i have ever shot with the k on one of my rifles. The asr locking mounts are great on both the 762 and k.

The 762 is long and heavy but also used on subs and supers. Darn quiet with 300blk subs, and accurate with 308. I think i would have gone omega for my 762 can but with the amazing sound of the 300blk subs I am happy enough with what i got. Just mentioning this bc of the other guys saying go omega, I would second that for a 30 cal can that can do all, but you did ask for 5.56, and in my experience the K is great!!

Another vote, QD 30 cal can. I have a 762 Saker but would have gotten an Omega if they would have been available at the time. The Saker is a good can but I would have liked to save the weight and I won't be running the Saker on barrels short enough to justify it over the Omega

I too went with the 30 cal but if I were looking into a dedicated 556 that I would leave on one rifle and never remove it would be a direct thread gemtech trek-t, about as small/compact and lightweight as it gets

Thanks for the input, y'all....but if you read the original post......I already have a .30 cal can. Looking for specifically one for my 5.56 rifles.

We read the original post. A lot of us were in your shoes. The 30 Cal cans do just as well as the 5.56 cans on a 5.56 rifle. And it's about the same money. We're just saying if we could do it over again we'd get a QD 30 cal can for our 5.56 rifles. And The Omega with the 5.56 end cap for the 30 cal version is pry the best way to go.

It's pretty much the same suppression, same money, but way more versatile.

I really like my M4-2000. Some don't seem to like the 51t mount, but I've had no issues with it.

I have a cheap 5.56 can and I think my omega is more quiet than it... Def something to think about. Check out the military arms channel videos. There really aren't any difference in decibels.
