Wanting to start reloading for my 300 blk out. Have a few questions.

First what would be a good source of info for powder, primers and what not.

Second can I use old .223 brass no problem or is it not as reliable.

    Thanks

also if you have a recipe that works good please share looking for subs and supers for a SBR

A really good place I've found for information on the 300BLK is 300blktalk.com There is about anything you want to know about it on there. And yes, most 223 brass can be used. Certain brands the brass is to thick. There is a good, no good list on that site.

Unless something new has come along Accurate 1680 is the powder you want.

I haven't loaded since spring so I forget the exact numbers. I also used the site mentioned above.

This is correct, H110 and W296 are good also. BUY a lb. of whichever one you can find and try it!

Or 8lbs of A-1680 if you can find it and never look back. One can do just about any load they dream up with A-1680 and it will work great.

4227 works very well also. They are using all kinds of different powders, from red dot to some off the wall stuff I haven't heard of before. Some use Lil gun, Trail boss, N110, N320. Some one was asking about Black Powder even. :nailbite:

I'm a fan of IMR4227, use it for supers and subs.
Cabelas in Noblesville had primers last week. Not sure of any other local shops as I haven't been in any lately. Midway and others have them

Yes 300 Black Talk is the place to be. Unreal source of great info.

Be sure to hit that list of useable brass before you start. I mill my own down on a drill press and reform. Use a WFT for final trim. RCBS case prep center is also a nice tool.

I only shoot supers and 4227 does the job. Powder and primers are slowly starting to reveal themselves. Actually had some selection at the last Valpo show.

Love the wildcat type of flavor the 300BLK has to offer. If you like to tinker with hand loading it is a good round to play with.

I've used 4198 with fairly good results. Have been using 5744 which seems to do well too at 9.2gr but it doesn't burn completely, my 8.5" suppressed pistol is awesomly disgusting with unbrunt powder.

Picked up a pound of 1680 yesterday I plan to mess with when I get more bullets

1680 for subsonic, but just remember it burns really dirty like charcoal.

Li'l Gun is my go-to powder, it can do both super and subsonic, although I've never messed with sub.

I have loaded subs using 1680 and 4227. My gun preferred the 1680. I would buy a few hundred factory cases to get started. Midsouth usually has good deals on brand new factory brass. Once you get the loading worked up and they are reliable, then maybe start using converted brass. Just my suggestion.....

I posted this some time back about my own experience getting started with 300 BLK. Some information on powder, primers, using .223 cases, bullets, etc. Certainly not an exhaustive reference by any means but it will give you some ideas:

    https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...ng-300-aac-blackout-using-223-5-56-cases.html

Enjoy! I've probably done 1000+ rounds of 300 BLK including some subsonic loads to go with my new suppressor. One of these days I need to update the information.

Lots of possibilities with this round!
