Here's a Mosin-Nagant Idea

Hello,

From what I'm gathering, the .500 S&W and the 7.62x54R have, for all intents and purposes, the same rim diameter.

I'm thinking that it would be a relatively small matter to find a .500" barrel with blank chamber, have it cut for a .500 and fit it to a MN...

Maybe modify the mag to make it work with the .500 S&W as well...

It'd be a fun deer gun. Especially if made into a faux sniper...

Everyone's asking what it would take to put an AK mag on an SKS.

I have to ask, what would it take to put an SVD mag on a Mosin-Nagant?

As cheap as they are, it would certainly couldn't hurt to attempt altering one so it would fit...looks like I now have a project to work on.

I currently have a 91/30 and a M44. Since the 91/30 does not have matching serials, I think I'll give it a shot.

I had thought the same thing a few years ago after picking up my M38. It never went much farther than thinking, but would be interesting to see what some of the folks com eup with.

So now why would you want to shoot more than five 7.62x54r rounds at a time? Seems like that would hurt

You can get a ten round detachable magazine for 7.62x54R. Just that it might be a tad expensive to get the SVT40 to go with it.
