I am still looking for someone to make a reasonable argument to this end. I've heard too many people call his citizenship into question, and I find it borderline laughable. Let me put out what I've found, and hopefully someone can explain the error in my logic. No one has been able to yet.

I found this site with the US code and I can only assume it to be complete and factual:
United States Code: Title 8,Part I—Nationality at Birth and Collective Naturalization | LII / Legal Information Institute

Looking at Title 8 Section 1401, it appears subsection g is the important part:
Given that his mother was born in Kansas (I think) and then moved to Hawaii and never lived outside the US before Barack was born (when she was eighteen), doesn't that fulfill the requirements of this section for Barack to be a US citizen at birth (regardless of where he was actually born)? Even if he was born in Kenya, wouldn't he still be a US citizen at birth and therefore be eligible for the presidency?

well if he actually was born in the U.S. some of the schools he attended overseas would have required him to denounce his citizenship. so wheres the proof he ever got it back? if he did this he wouldnt even be able to legaly purchase a gun i dont believe.

WoW. Respect must be EARNED. enough said.

So, because I don't know you and you have done nothing to earn my respect, you'd be perfectly fine if I treated you disrespectfully, called you names, spread libel and engaged in personal attacks against your character? I'll remember that the next time I'm in a bad mood and am looking for a scapegoat.

I find that people who say "respect must be earned" usually mean it about other people. Their own respect is usually seen as a God-given right.

Strange... I came to a similar conclusion. :dunno:

Splitting hairs. Intent, and portrayal are everything.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

So perception is everything? Your perception?

I truly like you, and thank you for the response (I doubt I will see a better one). I am not outraged far from it. Just typing while removing viruses from people’s computers. I do feel that we should rise above such dirt throwing and the like. I was raised to believe it was wrong to attack a President, but ok to attack policies. When I studied (for a long time) our wonderful history and read about the brutal arguments, and stalemates in congress the likes of which we don't see today I knew very well that mankind has always been this way. That being said there was a mood-change right before, and after the great wars and the cultural mind had a feeling of patriotism. When I talk to my Grandpa, and his army people they all speak the way I do about the role of President. Yes I am passionate about civility, honor, and just being proper. There were times when our whole country felt this way (and times when it did not). To my dying breath I will always defend a President of the United States while he is in office (the person not the policies) because I believe in a better way *shruggs* naive? Maybe.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

I would not spit in the current Presidents face nor would I shake his hand. I don't believe he is a natural born American citizen and therefore should not be allowed to hold the office.

As for patriotism, an honorable show of patriotism is to serve in the military. When you do, you swear an oath, to defend the Constitution and obey the orders of the president. According to regulations and the UCMJ.

U.S. Armed Forces Oath of Enlistment

If I was still on active duty I would not disrespect the President because of respect to the regulations of the US military and the UCMJ. So I would honor my oath and the regulations not the President. Do not confuse the two.
The current man in office is no patriot, he has publicly called the constitution flawed and is openly socialist. He bows to foreign dignitaries while disrespecting US citizens. The guy in office gets the minimum respect I would show to any human being but no more than that.

I think there is some doubt Obama was born on US soil however his mother was certainly a full US citizen when he was born so I think that does make him a US citizen. I think there was a deliberate attempt to hide how many years he spent living in Islamic countries and the whole citizenship thing was born out of that. He acts like he did not grow up in the US which I think is mostly true.

As far as controlling the deficit and being left with Bush policies:

    1. The Democrats controlled congress for two years before Obama was elected so it is also their budget.
    2. If bailing out the banks and GM was so bad why did Obama continue it?
    3. Obama signed the stimulus and the health care bill which pretty much tells you where his budget priorities lie.
    4. If Obama was serious about cutting the deficit he would be backing the House proposals to cut a measely 60 billion a year in spending when it needs to be at least 600 billion.

Wow, two out of three of those apply to me. :):

Then again, I'm not President, so I don't know what point I was making.

Oh don't get me wrong. It was bad when they both did it.

My previous post addresses this and still has not been proven to be flawed. Natural born US citizen != born on US soil.

So, despite the overwhelming evidence supporting an alternative hypothesis, you are going to continue searching for what little evidence there may be to support yours? Have at it, but it wont really hold up to any scientific metrics.

Only history will tell if he ranks among the following list of some of those considered to be the "worst presidents in history." I am not a big fan, but I am doubtful that he'll end up at the head of the pack as you have suggested:

    Warren G. Harding
    James Buchanan
    Richard M Nixon
    Ulysses S. Grant
    Andrew Johnson
    Franklin Pierce
    Millard Fillmore
    Zachary Taylor
    John Tyler
    William H Harrison
    George W. Bush

I'd add FDR to that list....the Father of American Socialism. Where is Jimmy Carter?

I'd take GWB off that list...and I think history will show he was not in the top 10 worst.

I'm perfectly willing to accept the idea that every one has been worse than the one before him. The only exception I might make is for William Henry Harrison, my favorite president. He at least had the common decency to drop dead shortly after taking office.

I think he is top 10 easy... FDR.. In my mind (despite his socialist leanings) is an American Hero and the best President this country has ever had. He saved America in some ways, and played so many pivitol roles in the most difficult time the world has seen. Nobody is perfect and some of what he did was not good... but overall.. I am in awe.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

As a full-out Libertarian, I'm sure you all can imagine what I think of Mr Obama. But the cries of socialism kind of rub me the wrong way as that's not what he is. He's Corporatist just like the last several presidents we've had, and just as owned by the NWO monied interests (banks, billionaires, MIC) that have been leading us down a hole. The only 'socialism' I've noticed on the rise has been the working middle class of this country being 'issued' it's ***.
