Thxs for the information....when a person gets pulled over and they have firearms in trunk lets say ur headed to range or outdoor shoot are u suppose to tell the officer or just deal with ticket and drive on and I was told u r suppose to tell when u have a firearm on u (ltch) thxs for any info

No, you are not required to tell (unless you are in Texas - you're welcome Kirk). Save yourself the hassle and don't inform. Accept the ticket, if you get one.

Whiners? Is that what we are, I think we are citizens who stand up for our rights to NOT be infringed upon by ANYONE LEO or civilian. Nope, you cant tell if a person is a criminal by looking at them, but I would say that if a person is OCing in downtown Indy, the chances of them being a criminal are almost NIL. Why would a criminal want to display the fact they are illegally carrying a firearm?
    INGunGuy

Only thing I will add is LEO's are civilians. Their job is merely public service.

Just in response to the discussion a few pages back about people getting a felony and losing their rights forever (or until it's taken off the record, if possible)...

A guy in LaPorte got a felony conviction and 150 days in jail for pointing a finger at an officer and saying "Bang" in addition to saying "you're at the top of my list". Interesting how something so small and stupid sets this guy up to never being able to own a gun or do any of the things we're discussing.

If they ask for the permit, show it to them without giving them a bunch of crap. It's the only way they're going to get the job done.

I'm with Blackhawk 2001. If they approach it right it should be just fine, and an appreciated effort to keep the citizens safe, but if they get all Barney Fife on everyone, it's probably going to get ugly, and lawyers are going to make some money. Let's hope for the former rather than latter scenario

I'm in luck. I am a big guy with a mustache, short hair, and I just look like a cop. When someone see's a glimpse of my concealed weapon they look at me and say, "He's (probably) a cop".

Things I know would be different if I had long hair with tattoos and a shirt that had a punk rock logo on it.

    Reality bites sometimes.

Well lets see, how many people come into downtown Indy on a daily basis? Anyone have an idea? I would venture to say AT LEAST 200,000 on a daily basis, I may be way off, and even if I am, to have 3 people shot in 3 weeks make it a pretty low percentage of people who get shot in downtown Indy.

Whiners? Is that what we are, I think we are citizens who stand up for our rights to NOT be infringed upon by ANYONE LEO or civilian. As for how to have a cop tell if I am a crazed criminal, they cant, and that is one of the difficulties in living in a FREE SOCIETY, it is dangerous, and there is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING that LEO can do to mitigate that danger. It is dangerous to fly, drive a car, go fishing, even sitting in your easy chair at home. Should LEO be allowed to make sure you are a proper person just because it is in the name of safety? Nope sorry, I am not willing to give up my rights.

There better be PC or RAS before you make ANY contact other than a "good day" as we pass one another. Dont ask me for my LTCH, DL, gun, or name because you wont get it, and if I am illegally detained then Indiana will be sending my kids to college and purchasing my retirement villa in Spain.

Two different videos here, watch both and you will see why he is correct in stating the above

    In terms of this statement:
"There better be PC or RAS before you make ANY contact other than a "good day" as we pass one another. Dont ask me for my LTCH, DL, gun, or name because you wont get it, and if I am illegally detained then Indiana will be sending my kids to college and purchasing my retirement villa in Spain."

Actually, the above isn't correct. The OP can demand PC and RAS all he/she wants, but an officer doesn't need either for mere "contact." If you don't want an officer to walk up to you and ask questions, don't go out in public. I agree that eventually there might be a "harassment" issue if an officer, or officers of a certain department constantly engaged into conversation/interrogation of a person. In order for one to be detained, with their freedom restricted, the officer would need PC or RAS. At this time, the mere knowledge that a person is carrying a handgun upon their person would rise to the level of RAS for a brief detainment and investigation. If the person refuses to ID or show a LTCH, and the officer has PC that the person is carrying a handgun, then the next step would likely be an arrest. Not saying it is right or wrong, just how things are at this point in time.

Then as I have stated before, the good state of Indiana would be paying to send my kiddos to college and for my vacation home in Costa Rica.

Doubtful, the civil liabilty laws are very much slanted toward the LEO and his agency.:xmad:
My understanding is that you have to prove 100% liability on the part of the gov't. If you are .00001% liable, as decided by a jury, you lose.

Well juries are awarding all kinds of settlements to gun owners that have been illegally detained, gun confiscated, etc.
