I've poured gas into a plastic cup once and the cup melted.
Did the experiment with glass and metal container as well for school project. Did not think to use plastic bags. Surprised the bags did not melt.

I have a plastic gas can which does not melt. It’s high density polyethylene. So not all plastics are dissolved by gasoline. Polystyrene can. I think most trash bags are made out of polyethylene so it may not dissolve.

I’m just wondering what she was going to use the gas for, and how does she plan on filling up whatever that is?

Knowing Illinois, I'm sure it really isn't about "safety", it's likely all about who stands to profit.
I wouldn't even be surprised if the mob is involved in this.

The woman pushing this bill doesn't exactly fit the profile...

Styrofoam + gasoline = a reasonable approximation of Napalm.
