Keep faith and vote with feet, dollars, and at the ballot box.

I paid $100 for 2 pistols to be shipped to Fort Liberty in Avon. They raised their price on transfers and it took them no longer than normal to call it in. Say whatever you want, but as a business owner it just doesn't sit right with me. I don't care about the money, it's the principal and way of doing business.

You can go on and on about how people shouldn't stop shopping somewhere, or "hold grudges", or whatever other view you'd rather them have... But I can tell you one thing. When all this nonsense stops, I'm going to remember the shops that didn't raise their prices on me, and they are going to get my business each and every time.

If someone doesn't treat you right, you have every right not to give them any more of your money. If it costs more to procure items, stores have every right to charge more for them. If your elected representatives don't protect your interests, you have every right to vote for someone else.
The last 7.62x39 I bought was $179/1260rds form Aim surplus. When I see the current prices I have no interest in buying more, but if I do I know that the seller probably had to pay more to get it so in turn I will have to pay more. 21st Century in Bluffton had an M1A that I wanted. It went to gun broker and was over priced in my opinion, but that didn't bother me because they have cut me deals on my wife's AR and my Beretta, and have offered me other deals when they could. I want them to make money and stay in business. Most are in a position now, where they can't make the deals they once could, but if they have treated folks right, we should give them the benefit of the doubt. As far as congress critters go, I don't just tell them I vote, I tell them I vote in the primary and so do all of my friends and family. Pay attention, keep faith, stay informed, this will pass and saner times will return. The old guys on the CMP boards think this will pass and they are older and wiser than me.

Really? Then what would you call it when a company raises prices above everyone elses, gets complaints, then lowers the prices to what others have inflated theirs to? Did you see how high the prices were?

They didn't lower prices because of complaints, they lowered them because they stopped selling enough to turn a profit. This is how the market works. A good or service is only priced "too high" if people stop buying it.

"Gouging" is a phony-baloney made-up socialist term. A seller is free to ask whatever price they wish to ask, and the buyer is free to let them know if it is appropriate with the only signal that matters.

In 3-6 months, if everything settles down, I will be buying at least $5k in ammo, primers, mags, etc to sit on for the next panic. Sure will bring me much more profit than my money market account or my 401k.

Yep, you have the right to bear arms, not sell them.

Interesting, so on the same thought process, you dont have the right to buy a house with the intention of making a profit off of it (either rental, or flipping, etc.)...

Maybe you can take the money that would be considered as profit, and redistribute it to those that are not making as much.

You're a terrible person for not selling those items on here at pre panic prices. I and my buddies will forever refuse to do business with you because you wouldn't sell them here at prices that we think you should charge, even though we're unwilling to do what we expect of you.
    +1 :ingo:

Maybe you missed my sarcasm. Many here like to say "shall not be infringed" at every opportunity. Then we get many who love to point out laws like you must be an ffl to make a profit on a gun. I don't understand why gun owners would be such sticklers for enforcing unconstitutional laws.

I couldn't agree more, this is, in part what has made this Country so great for so many years; Capitalism! Any given commodity is only worth what a potential buyer is willing to pay for it, if you don't want to pay these inflated prices, wait! It's not as if this hasn't happened before, and after a brief time things will calm down and prices will as well. I personally think someone is crazy for paying $1,600 for a $700 M&P Sport AR, however I'm happy for the seller and his ability to do so when that's what he chooses to do!

At the end of the day, smart people will wait and panicked people will overpay, it's your decision which category you'll place yourself in...!

I don't give a crap about the gouging anymore, I just can't get over where the hell all the 9mm and, can you believe it, .22 LR have gone! In all the years of buying ammo, I have never seen all the .22 LR out of stock. I don't get it.

I have always picked up at least on or two boxes of ammo each week, and will no matter where the prices go, but no .22 LR? Glad I got tons of it right now.:dunno:

While I see where you are coming from, most people on INGO and outside of INGO don't condone convicted felons having firearms, which goes against their Constitutional Right. Why don't we let felons who have been convicted of domestic abuse own and carry firearms (other than black powder) as well? Technically there's no Constitutional Right that prohibits you from committing many illegal acts. So should we just do away with all laws that don't apply to the Constitution?

Laws are laws... if you condone one illegal act but not another then it pretty much sums you up as a hypocrite. And actually, buying a firearm for the purpose of reselling for profit does not go against any Constitutional Right. They are not denying your right to own the firearm. However, the "purpose of making a profit" is exactly what a business is, which requires taxes to be paid, business license, etc etc... you get the point.

    Walmart, and Gander Mtn.
Went to Gander Mountain on 86th yesterday, and about 5 Walmarts on the way back home, and NONE had 22lr, or Id have a whole lot more than I do now.
I probably have enough, to be honest, to have normal plinking duty for at least a few years, I am just trying to get 1000 rounds of matching .22lr for an upcoming Appleseed shoot. And Ive got two friends on the same quest....

Now Gander Mtn DID have most handgun calibers in stock...but Im mostly set on those, or enough so that I wasnt about to pay their prices, not that they were all that bad.

    Dear Mr. Doom

I want to thank you for your business at Fort Liberty. I do apologize that we've had to raise our transfer prices. This is due to us having to hire more employees to keep up with our customer base. The NICS system has been overloaded lately and because of that 4473 checks have taken up to 1 hour to get an answer. Obviously this ties up an employee from the sales floor so we have brought in a few more people to help out when we get busy.
I do remember when you came in for your transfers and yes, we were not too busy at the time and the 4473 check went through in about 5 minutes. Unfortunately we can't predict when we will be busy or slow so for the time being we will have to assume a check could take an hour and have the staff on hand to deal with delays in service to our customers.
Our transfer prices are clearly stated on a 3' dry erase board next to the cash register so its no secret as to what our fees are. The only thing I might suggest is calling next time to verify the cost of a transfer or current wait times to get your 4473 called.
Again thank you for your business and if there is anything we can help you with please feel free to get ahold of me or call the shop.

    Thanks,
    James
