You can't make it legal to buy alcohol on Sunday's, think of the CHILDREN!!!

BTW, I lived in CT for 16 months. If you're not a liberal you need your beer to maintain sanity in that place because you're sandwiched between NYC and Boston. You couldn't (and still can't as far as I know) buy beer after 9 p.m. either.

will leave Indiana as the only state in the country to ban all alcohol sales on Sunday, said Frank Coleman

That article & Frank Coleman are incorrect, and they need to fact check it before publishing. You CAN buy alcohol on sundays in indiana, just not at a package store.

You can buy in a bar, brewery take out and winery take out.

ETA: Bar = establishment with a licence to sell by the glass, bar or resturant.

Sounds like Ohio's liquor sales (for hard liquor anyways). Gotta love state liquor control's silly rules... We missed out on a purchase one night because the registers shut down during the transaction. Ended up having to leave the state operated part of the grocery store and heading to the isle that has beer and crappy premix drinks.

    Which reminds me:

Ohio Division of Liquor Control has BACON flavored vodka on sale!!!
The sale started May 1, so you may already be too late. (First page on the link, 5th liquor listed).

Indiana is now the only state in the nation that prohibits the sale of any alcohol on Sunday. I haven't read or heard much from the free market/Sunday sales crowd recently. Have they given up?

Connecticut To Become 49th State To Sell Alcohol On Sunday

You can buy booze in Indiana on Sunday all over the state, you just can't get it to go.

Every Sunday thousands of bars and pubs have NASCAR parties, football parties, golf tournament parties, and Roller Derby drink specials.

If you can't get your drink on in this state on a Sunday then you probably will not survive the coming Zombie Apocalypse.

In other words the state would rather you drink and drive than buy it and take it home? Makes sense huh.

You can buy beer to go on Sunday in PA. You just have to buy in case quantities. No sixers or 12 packs for sale in PA. That's one of the goofiest laws IMO.

Funny in a land that complains if you have the Ten Commandments on the front law of a state building, because of religious intolerance you cannot buy alcohol from a Kroger or Meijer, or... fill in your favorite outlet... because of religious beliefs!

    What's wrong with this picture?

Actually, in Indiana, the loudest group out there against Sunday sales is the liquor store lobby. They swear that Sunday sales will bankrupt them, since they'll have to hire someone to staff the place on Sundays and grocery stores already have people in place. They completely ignore the fact that they don't have to open on Sunday. Chik Fil a doesn't and they seem to be doing OK. They just have a louder, well paying lobbyist than the pro-Sunday sales group. As for the so-called existing sales that's not applicable to the majority of the state. Yeah, you can go to a bar or Chili's or the like and then drink and drive (and run the risk of getting popped by officer friendly), and you can go to a micro brewery. But not every town is near to a microbrewery or vineyard. Most places are near to a store that sells beer. Indiana needs to tell all interested parties that are against Sunday sales to STHU and get a life.

Yup. I don't think a lot people know how much money gets thrown at legislators to maintain the status quo market distortions and fiefdoms. Consumers suffer at the expense of special interest.

I wonder who through money at the statehouse to get the prohibition on Sunday sales of motorcycles lifted? Oh yeah, hoosiers, you can buy a motorcycle on Sunday now. Still can't buy a car though. Funniest part of the new law, 31 people voted against it. Think about that. 31 legislators don't think you should be able to buy a motorcycle on Sunday.

Package sales is implied seeing as how the spokesman is from DISCUS.

Well the quote by Mr. Coleman stated: "will leave Indiana as the only state in the country to ban all alcohol sales on Sunday, said Frank Coleman."

Thus implying that you could not buy any form of alcohol on sunday what so ever.

It did not state: "will leave Indiana as the only state in the country to ban all packaged alcohol sales from a liquor or grocery store on Sunday, said Frank Coleman "

So I stand by my statement that the article and Mr coleman are incorrect. Even if package sales was implied, you can still by packaged beer from a brewery on sunday, and packaged wine from a winery on sunday, the "implied" arguement is invalid.

In other words the state would rather you drink and drive than buy it and take it home? Makes sense huh.

Yeah doesn't make sense to me either, but till it changes, them's the breaks. At least they allow us the privilege of drinking in our homes on sunday if we choose to.

Okay, Indiana is the only state in the nation that does not allow liquor or package shops to operate on Sunday. Everyone happy now, good. Now go buy a motorcycle.
