I'd rather invest in technology and resources that employs americans than send all my $$$ to countries that are trying to kill us. You're living in a bubble if you think that you'll be able to go the pump for cheap gas forever. The country that gets ahead on clean energy is going to dominate, if we don't invest in domestic companies to develop and manufacture we'll be buying it from China.
Wind turbines have the highest return on investment than any other energy source, and there is a reason why you don't really see them in the middle of a wooded hunting area.
Most new fuel cells can use other forms of biofuel and the ones that do use natural gas are twice as efficient as using the same fuel source in a turbine generator.
After using up the battery on a plug-in hybrid, yes they revert back to a fossil-fuel engine, but I don't drive 150 miles a day, and most people don't.
I'm not saying that those technologies are perfect, I'm just saying that I'd rather spend my money on products made in the USA and not be a slave to Saudi oil cartels. I'd like the option to be independent, and the more mass production of clean energy, the cheaper it will get for everyone.

Let the free market invest in what drives the free market technology-wise and the US will be better off for it, rather than having an administration dictate "what is good for us".

Free market is what drives technology at a rapid rate. Sure wind turbines have the best ROI of all the technologies out there, but it takes many many years before that ROI is realized. In the meantime, cost for paying that is a small cost of the overall spending by this administration...even a fractionalized cost of the entire stimulus package. That stimulus package cost is what we are leaving behind for our children.

I would rather have smart technological companies gamble, just like so many have in the past, to deveolp alternative energies that are truly clean, like wind and solar. The others are not clean at all if we are so concerned for keeping things green, as I point out in my post earlier.

That is what will boost this economy...not tanking it by throwing money at companies and say "hey go deveolop this", especially cronies of Oblunder and the Inconvenient Gore. Sure it may get developed in time. However those who stick their necks and businesses on the line, are the true drivers of the economy. When their new inventions and technologies work, they reap the rewards of their efforts.

I would rather the government return my stimulus money I paid through taxes. I need it more than a crony does.

Be careful, might make you the Secretary of War. That would be after we bring the troops back home, weed out the career REMF's, and make the Armed Forces a lean, mean, fightin' machine.

Except a lot of paper they own is ours. If they dump that on the market, we're in for a world of economic hurt.

I'm not saying that they COULDN'T, it just wouldn't be in their best interest to do so. We trade on such a large scale with China, that were they to severely impede our economy, their own would suffer as a result. Also, the paper they own is their only REAL leverage against us. It's a paper tiger through and through, at least to my eyes.

Correct me if I'm wrong :patriot:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until a majority of voters discover that they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury.” – Alexander Tytler.

I agree, I would rather have companies take the risk in exchange for the reward of profit, and they are doing that in some cases. Only problem is, fossil fuel sources have the infrastructure and supply to always undercut the energy costs of renewable sources, keeping everyone relying on them. 40 years some oil sheik from Saudi (I'd have to look up the ref) was quoted as saying something like, it's a fine line to get the maximum profit and still keep governments from looking to alternative energy, and the biggest mistake would be to raise oil prices too fast. That's exactly what they're doing, and it pisses me off. I'm not sure if a free market without any government intervention can get us out of it, but it sure would be nice!

good thing we have a republic then.

True, but a Representative Democracy is still a Democracy.

Alexander Tytler's words of warning are seemingly very prophetic these days, as evident by all of the entitlement programs & stimulus spending that are literally bankrupting this nation as we speak.

Those who were duped allowed themselves to be duped--dare I say wanted to be duped--because it's easier to believe that someone else is responsible. I have absolutely no sympathy for them.

Yeah it looks good if you are young. The whole world ahead of you with uncle sam backing your education, your health-care(medical marijuana), and a whole bunch of grande sized stimulus benefits(cash for clunkers). Now all you have to do is get your 99 weeks of unemployment from the job you couldn't hack because they actually wanted you to show up on time and actually earn your check.. How unfare and un American is that?

    Some where in the USA
    That's pretty good.

People did not think he meant fundamentally changing
America when he said "hope and change" they were duped.

They thought he was some great leader to get us out of
business as usual politics, the great unifier so to say.

He has been the great divider since getting in. -
The touchey-feeley good time has ended and the socialist has emerged.

And the part about joe donnelly saying he one of "us" and he's not part of the obama/pelosi crowd!??
The guy voted for everything that this administration wanted. AGAINST his constituents.
Now in an election year he is yammering on about "I'm one of you, not part of this washington crowd"
    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Yeah, he did a good job at fooling alot of people. I did not vote for him. However, I do know people who did. I often ask them "Where is all the hope a change we can believe in?" I get blank and dumb founded looks. They know they were duped and cannot admit it.

WHAT??? Are you bunnies and unicornin' me?? If I rob your house and later hand you a $20... I did not bring you out of despair.

Politicians are ALL the worst. You evidently just don't get it! Our biggest enemy IS the incumbent. Career politicians are the bane of our society. They vote raises for themselves when the rest of the nation is suffering, they enact obamacare legislation that they are exempt from, they pass bad legislation that 75% of their constituents are against, etc... You can't destroy 1000 jobs then create 500 and say it's a boon! :n00b:

    This is simply Genius!!!
