Tornado flattened my highschool when I was 15. Two years later the '78 blizzard closed my school for a month.

as I understand the story...
several inches of snow had fallen. mom began to have some issues. the squad got them to the hospital before they got completely shut in. mom had preeclampsia, and I was born through emergency C-section. mom was unconscious through the whole rest of the storm. when she came to she couldn't understand why dad hadn't gone home to shave and change cloths and such, then learned that they had been snowed in at the hospital for a couple days.

a couple of hours difference in the timeline would have had a very different outcome.

note: French toast ingredients would not have solved that problem...

Fond memories of the 78 blizzard. Had just enough time Wednesday night to get cross town and be snowed in with my girlfriend.

Blizzard of '78 was a great time to be a kid. We built a huge igloo in a drift. Even sprayed it with water so it would freeze.

Wouldn't want to do it again as an adult.

Ah the blizzard of 78........we lived on the edge of a small town. I still remember seeing tracked National Guard vehicles buzzing around checking on abandoned cars and those who were isolated due to the storm. We had a one car garage and the snow had drifted so that you could, carefully, walk up the drift and onto the roof of the garage. Good times.

Hard to believe that 40 years ago today we were huddled in our homes. I just wandered around today in a raincoat. Crazy.
