A cop who can't tell the difference between a picture of hibiscus and marijuana is not doing his job. Police officers are supposed to have specialized training in drug recognition, hence why judges approve warrants based on their word that they are identifying something as marijuana. I would guess that both the municipality and the insurance agency pays.
I was thinking the same, but apparently there are strains of hibiscus (Roselle in my example) the leaves of which do resemble marijuana...

We have a lot of cleome in our yard (stuff spreads like wildfire). I'm surprised someone hasn't reported it as marijuana...

I personally wouldn't know but my friend tells me that these plants don't look much like marijuana. Lots of plants have long, thin leaves and authorities should probably study more. I'm guessing that the judge wouldn't be happy about his wife being forced to stand on the front porch in her underwear for a mistaken identification of a plant.

Huh, so that's called cleome. Good to know.

That looks nothing like my hibiscus. Mine have the giant 6" flowers, and the leaves are quite different.

Same here, which is why I had to go look at Google to see if there was indeed some kind of hibiscus that could be mistaken for pot. I think (IIRC) that the one in the pic grows in arid climates. As for the cleome, we got a start from an old neighbor years ago and now every spring I pull it like weeds, leaving only a few to enjoy. It gets seed pods on it with thousands of tiny black seeds and it ends up going everywhere. Pretty, long-lasting blooms but VERY invasive.

My aunt's meter reader called the police due to her cleome. Yes, they showed up to investigate.

See something say something. Wasn’t that discussed at your indoctrination??
Seems to be that way... I can see it if someone is prepping to take down an airplane or shoot up a school. If someone wants to run a still or grow some pot, none of my business.
