    Chasing in an auction is never a good idea. Know what you want and what it is worth to you and just stop. Anything else is just either too great a desire or machismo.

    I did okay on this one; came out with 7 pistols, 3 shotguns and a rifle...all that I wanted (not all that I bid on ...or even some of the ones I really wanted but they came at too big a price eventually).

    That's a lesson I learned years ago on ebay. It's just too easy to tell yourself "well, if I was willing to pay $1000 on it, $1050 is still reasonable."

    Now I just place a bid of the max I will willing to pay, and only check the results after the end of the auction. And in this one, all of my winners were less than my max bid, so I was happy. I did some cursory research to see what price ranges the items were going for in several places, and placed a bid that was lower than the low end of those.
