Is it my imagination? Or are people trending away from .45acp?

personally, I don’t see anything cheap about the shooting sports. Even with so called “cheap” 9 mm “lady rounds” I can still spend $50 just during a regular range visit on my own.

That's true, sort of like golf, there's a pretty expensive buy in to the sport and then $$ to maintain it lol.

My reason for not taking up golf was the expense of it. That's what I used to tell people. I can't say much now, lol.

I would think a round of golf is as much or more than a range visit. Though you would probably spend more time on the golf course so $/hr might be less.

A single driver probably cost more than my pistol or close to it. And I don't have to have a bag full of them!

So, hey, shooting is a bargain!

I used 45 ACP in bowling pins matches and in the USPSA revolver division. When the USPSA revolver division was changed to allow 8 shot minor caliber, a 45 ACP 6 shot was pretty much obsolete. I have been able to shoot bowling pins with an 8 shot 357 gun successfully and it will work for USPSA. My 45 ACP guns pretty much set in the safe. So USPSA revolver competitors have moved away from 45 ACP.

They have been "Moved" away from .45 ACP by those who set the tone.

I've slowed way down on Firearm purchases, not much I want (or want and can find or afford).
That being said, if S&W releases the 45acp 2.0 compact in the 3.6" barrel, I'm all over that, especially since I have given up on any VP45.

I doubt they are going to release the 2.0 compact 45 in the 3.6" barrel. I know they make the regular 4" 45 compact in 2.0 trim with the 8 shot magazine, but I looked for one for a long time and never saw one in any gun shop. I don't think they made a whole lot of them, due to lack of demand. I finally just bought a 40 compact 2.0. Same size, more rounds, typically hits harder than a 45 unless you are using Underwood or some other boutique ammo. Even then it's pretty close, ballistically.

My .45 acp pistol count is about 1/2 of what it was 2 years ago. I am not moving away from the .45, I have just moved from quantity to quality:@ya:

If there's a trend, it's limited to the soy boy cucks. Real men stick to .45 ACP - "the soul stealer". ;)

This should be a morale patch.

I just picked up another .45 today. I caliber dropped 9mm a few years ago. I am left to 38/357, 40, & 45. I like steak and taters. 9mm is more like grilled chicken and asparagus.

For me, it was a choice to consolidate calibers. I sold a .45 acp that sat in the safe to fund a competition pistol I've been wanting to build. Yes the new gun is in 9mm which is typically cheaper to purchase under "normal" circumstances. I shot less and less .45acp because I don't have time to reload anymore and it's much more expensive to buy. Stockpiling more ammo in fewer calibers makes it a little easier on my pocketbook as well.

    Because 45 doesn't do much that 9mm can't do.

185gr@1050fps can now be had in 9mm. https://seismicammo.com/shop/185gr-9mm-21-round-bonus-pack/
115gr@1400fps can now be had in 9mm. https://www.underwoodammo.com/colle...in-jacket-hollow-point?variant=18785729413177

So you can run heavy or light, fast or slow, more energy than 45acp, and have double the capacity for the same size.
Some folks are sentimental though, I can't fault them for it. A 1911 in anything but 45 or 38 super seems sacrilegious.

That 185gr loading really made 40 pointless. And yes I've shot it and carry it, it's absolutely what it says it is, it's achieving every bit of that velocity because the POI at 20 yards is exactly the same for me as 115gr.

40 rounds of .45 goodness. Of course there were only 2 made?
