I served in the Army for 10 years. It's most uncommon for anyone to spend that amount of time at one company anymore. Congratulations on 32-years of service.

Thanks, Que. I can guarentee that if I had a factory job I wouldnt last more than a few months. I am outside in the summer and inside in the winter. What more could I ask for? My only mistake was taking over the reigns when my boss retired. :D

27 years for me.... Only job since college.
I honestly think there is a possibility that people of my vintage may not get to retire like the guys 10-15 tears older than me have. Hopefully, I'm being a bit pessimistic!

Was at my last job 30 years before the economy tanked and they had a big cutback. At my current job 1 year, and it's great to be working 5 minutes from home :D Sure don't miss the 70 mile round trip commute all those 30 years.

Previous employer - just shy of 10 years.
Current employer - 4 years (2 owners - I survived the buy out)

I did learn a few good lessons. Length of "service" means very little, and you are nothing but an expense to the "suits". The only person looking out for you, is you. Cynical? You betcha!

In year 20 at my job and my 45 year old wife just hit her 26 year mark @ her job. :patriot:

46 years for a couple is about unheard of.

I always told myself when I got my 25 years of service watch I'd know it would be time to leave. The watch never worked so I never knew it was time to leave. :D

The longest was only 2 years. The shortest was a seasonal gig as a teen where I did 4 or 5 weeks (detasseling corn at 13).

My dad just retired after 33 years with one employer (not the same position though). My mom will be retiring her job next week after 36 or 37 years.

11 years yesterday. Started there right out of college, so its basically the first "real" job I've had. Not much in the engineering field around here, and I dont really want to move. Ive been through 3 different "owners", 2 down sizings, 2 or 3 different offices, and 4 or 5 different business cards, but keep parking in the same lot ;)
