I agree with staffing company. Take anything and don't miss a single day. Work it at least six months if they'll have him on the job.
also apply at Walmart in perso
also have him start reading motivational business books. Develop a firm handshake and look people in the eye. Is he clean cut and shaven?
Do you have a local WorkOne office? They can help with paid job experiences, certification programs, etc.
What's the problem? Lazy? Troubled? Drugs? Wrong crowd?
Please don't take offense but is he ready to work? Will he just get fired?
I'd cut him off. Nothing should be given for free or easy. He's at one of the most critical points of his life. He'll either survive this or head down a path many never make it back from.
Well there are a few problems, but nothing that can't be worked through. Have seen no evidence of drug use. He's one of those people who's kinda socially awkward. And by that I mean he prefers to be alone. Doesn't hang out with any friends outside of school, has had issues with depression since 2011 when he was placed in a treatment facility for 6 mos after attempt suicide, saw a councilor until he turned 18 and refused services. Otherwise from my perspective he is mostly just Lazy and immature. He has absolutely no ambition, no career goals.

If he tries the military, they may not take him if they find out he attempted suicide.
I have a friend who's younger brother did this, and when he tried to join the Army some years later, they wouldn't take him because of this.
I wish him luck.
I have a stepson who's now 23 and won't work.
Had a job and just up and quit one day last fall and won't even try to get another.
His mother and I argue about this all the time, but she won't do anything, she owns the house he lives at, and since he's not my son I can't give him any ultimatums to get a job.
It BUGS the crap out of me.
He just hangs around playing video games.
Wow! Thankfully my wife and I are on the same page. He has to find a way to take the steps to stand on his own. We don't mind helping, even down the road but, there has to come a time when he is out on his own. We refure to be taken advantage of and that's just the way it is
