We just closed on our new home. 6 months of construction and losing my sanity, hair and sanity... wait, yea sanity... finally over! The mortgage process is not what it use to be, even for well qualified people. The building process is still a PITA and now all thats left to move this weekend and get settled in. I think settling in is going to be the difficult part since I've been in the same comfortable spot for almost 15 years!

Anyway, it feel good to say it. We're done!

    Congratulations on the new digs....:D
Now to put things in perspective.
When I bought my brand new house it was the largest purchase of my life.
    That was in 1976.
Last year I bought a new Jeep that cost more than my house did.
And it's not the top of the line Jeep. :):

    Who's the builder, Westport?

    Yes

It was a daunting process doing a custom home with a builder that usually cranks out the houses in the hundreds. We used a framing model they offered and modified it to fit our wants an needs. Most of the money is in the interior and energy efficient changes

Man, your lawn's all dead. The neighborhood association is gonna be on you about that. Congratulations on getting all that worked out in parallel. I swore I'd never move, but now I'm thinkin a bugout down in Brown County and plant a nice house there.

LOL... guy I work with said the same thing and I'm okay with that! I like brown, makes dog poo easy to clean up and you don't have to worry about the dog pee killing the grass! :rockwoot:

Funny thing is I run a Landscape Supply Yard / Trucking Company in town and I have no interest in landscaping the yard or cutting the grass.

    I miss my Subaru :(

Current home value is close to what we spent on adding to and customizing the new home. Amazing how much things have gone up? However, my current home hasn't gone up in value? the recession hit our home value hard.
