Guys at this site will tell you more than you want to know about your Marlin.

    http://www.marlinowners.com/board/

Thanks. After some more research I found my 30AW is just another 336W. Still can't find the differences though.

What strikes me odd is that if the 30AW came before the 336, why would mine have been manufactured in 93? Doesn't make sense so maybe I'll get some answers there! :D

To register, it asks if you are Human? Choices of yes, no, unsure. I put unsure and it said try again! LOL

Here is a pic of my Marlin 336 in .44mag. Before I put the scout scope on it I had a William's peep sight that I really liked.

Took this gun deer hunting last year and got a small buck. I think it is now my new full time deer rifle.

    Nice 44!

I have one question for you guys with scopes... Would you recommend the single Rail or the two piece Weaver mounts? I want to still be able to use the Iron sights if I remove the scope and the two piece mounts look to be the thinnest mounts. I already have rings and a scope, but I can get a different scope if the tube is too short.

I have a Marlin 336 in .35Rem. My dad bought it at a yard sale brand new for 75.00. This old lady was selling off her dead husbands stuff and he snatched it up. When he brought it home it still had the orange stickers on it from the factory. I have put 30~40 rounds through it and no one else has shot it.

It does have a white mark on the buttstock and that weird mark on the reciever. Other than that it is not marked up/beat up.

Famous Maker FM2628 Scope, B-Square Weaver 1-piece Scope Mount. Just need some locktight and I'll be good to go!

Now that I really look at it, the scope mount looks tilted to the right. I also noticed when mounting the scope, it rocked back and forth even though I got the Rings lined up and seated. Or so I thought. I may have to take it off and redo it, but that's why I didn't locktite it yet....

Oh, and I can remove the scope and still use the Irons... :D I also bought a 2 piece mount but the scope wasn't long enough. I might just sell them.

Marlin and Browning are good starts. I want a nice Henry Big Boy when I become a man. :D

This .30-30 will do until I grow up...

Stopped by Gander Mtn in Terre Haute yesterday and they have a couple 45-70's available. They do have several lever actions for sale right now but pricing on some seems high. One of the Marlin 45-70's had a tag of $750. Is that a good price? I've never priced big caliber lever actions. I picked up a scope for my Marlin .44 as well.

Nice scope. What kind of mount and scope did you use?

Also, if anyone needs or wants a 2-piece scope mount for the Marlin 336 I have an available set. I think it will work for other Marlin Models too. If interested I'll show you where I got it and if the ad shows it for other models...

Seems to be the cheapest I've found really. You can't hunt deer with it and maybe that's why. Makes no sense I know. You can shoot coyote, but not deer. Go figure.

I'm hoping to get to Atterbury either Saturday or Sunday and sight this bad boy in. I just wish I had a spotter. Oh well, I'll wing it at 50yrds. I can see the target well at that distance... :p

If you can afford a Henry, jump on it. But if you plan on shooting it regularly I wouldn't get the gold plated one. :):

Got my baby sighted in and I HIGHLY recommend the Hornaday LeveRevolution ammo! My .30-30 is a damn TACK DRIVER! .7"-1.2" groups of three at 50yrds. :D If I'd had more ammo I'd shot the 100yrd range. Maybe next time.
