The gunsmiths on here are probably going to hate me when they see this, but what the hell.

Little project I'm working on. Sks with walnut furniture with an oak skunk stripe all made from scratch by myself. I converted it to use ak mags, and am currently working on smoothing the woodwork out, making the front handguard, etc. Hopefully it'll look decent when finished.

    Nothing easy is fun. Lol

Plus an ak is 400+ dollars. The sks was less than 100, and all the materials used were free. Since it was an inexpensive rifle I wanted the experience of putting something together that's my own.

It was a converted folding stock "paratrooper" sks to begin with that had a broken stock when I got it, and all the replacement parts (even the latch for the magazine) were one-off and made by myself, and therefore aren't imported parts.

The magazines are promag and made in the USA.

It wasn't a c&r gun to begin with, so no worries there...I think. If you guys know anything different, please let me know. Lol

Here's a crappy photo of one of my dumb friends, but it's the only before one I have, just to give you an idea.

ok, just make when you finish it it's 922r compliant or it could land you in a heap of legal trouble

Yes, be very afraid. 10's of thousands of innocent Americans are imprisoned for violation of 922R every day :nailbite:
Sorry for the smart ass comment. That is a very interesting take on an SKS. Good luck, and hope it works.

Just picked up today from K&T Guns in New Haven. Savage Edge .308, leftover Simmons 44 mag 6-21 in UTG rings, an old bipod and sling I had laying around plus the stock cheekrest/bag I bought couple years ago but had no use for. Kind of a budget intermediate range shooter.

I am Sooooooooo jealous. I am a big M1A and Garand fan. I only have one of each though. A pre-ban all GI M1A and an all correct IHC Garand. Hope to one day get to your level of collecting though. Awesome pictures. Congrats on a really great collection. Thanks for sharing.:D

Savage .17HMR (TRR-SR Model), Harris bi-pod, Tasco 2.5-24x42 Varmint Scope, weaver rings, and a cheap winchester sling from wally-world.

Scope will be upgraded to a Vortex CrossfireII as soon as I can afford one and then I will be saving up for some Form-4 goodness from Silencerco.
