M1A questions

I was fortunate to come across a friend needing $$. Sold me his 1990 SA production M1A with Douglas barrel, lugged receiver, six mags, new military sling, scope mount and 200 rnds. of 168 boat-tail for $1600. It shoots GREAT with the iron sights! Happy with my purchase.

The SA Standard M1As are advertised as having a chrome lined barrel. I don't know if it is hammer forged or button cut though.

I was not aware of the change. Do you have a link which suggests the SAI's are now shipping chrome lined?

I was just on the SAI webpage and it did not say anything about chrome bores.
I've been reading everything I can the last two days on the M1A's since this occurred-

Sporter has given some very good advice.
Springfield does not surrently use chrome lined barrels like they use to .
They use Chrome-moly steel blanks for the standard models,not the same as chrome lined .I think the chrome lined /chrome moly may have confused someone .
