This is just the shlock being burned for the cameras. There are so many crap guns out there that to the media that does not know an automatic pistol from an automatic first down it is easy to snow them.

The good pieces get picked off and sold under what are called "restricted sales" programs. Usually a distance involved of say 150 miles or 300 miles or whatever.

When Kiesler Brothers was still that name I used to buy guns from New York City, Chicago, or New Orleans police (anyone else buy a "bag of guns" from KB?) as Jeffersonville was far from these cities.

The good pieces from the basement property room are being sold in Kansas City or Nashville.

From the Channel 13 Facebook page this morning:

"But some were given to Homecroft P.D. To save that small department some money.

'We decided if another department, a law enforcement department, needs some weapons to help them out with their budget situations, it would be natural to give them to them rather than destroy them,' said Julio Fernandez, spokesperson for the sheriff's department."
