Personally, I think this thread goes hand in hand with a few we have going on right now. Our world has been becoming more and more violent. It's truly sad.

I don't necessarily think that this is true. It might be a bit, but it's not as bad as it's made out to be.

It's an age old tale about how each generation has gotten progressively worse and the world is doomed if the current young generation doesn't make significant changes.

I think what has changed the most is our exposure to the violence. When I was growing up, there were 3 networks and each devoted 15 mins to their newscasts. That included sports and weather.

Now there are local stations that devote 4+ hours each to news each day. There are also multiple 24 hour news networks (CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc). They have to find something to fill that time.

Also, everyone in world now carries around new gathering tools in their pocket every day. Almost all cell phones are video capable now.

Think about if this had happened just 40 years ago. It was across the country and you would have never heard about it. If you did hear about it, you certainly would not have had video.

Video is graphic evidence and tends to carry the message with a "thud" delivery.

I do think we are currently exposed to more actual violence than ever before. However, I don't think violence has increased at the same rate as our exposure has (if that makes sense).

I know quite a few young people (<25) that make me proud and I'm not quite ready to write off the next generation just yet. Give me a few more years though and my cranky genes might just kick into overdrive.

I agree, look into history and the slaughter that existed for thousands of years. I dont think its more violent. I think as a people we are violent and it for the most part is being controlled, but everyonce in a while you see stuff like this.

You cant say its more violent now than ever before it seems to me that 2000 years ago it was regular practice to crucify people. People were burned at the stake while people watched because they were "witches". People were hung all the time for audiences. There has always been war, murder, and rape. The point is things are pretty peaceful in our lives most of the time but ever so often we see terrible things that horrify and shock us (like this did me and many others) but overall you dont see this happening every day. If it happens once a day in this country that means 10 people are involved out of 3,000,000. Idk just my thoughts.....ill set back and listen now:popcorn::twocents:

While this video did not teach me anything new, it did re-enforce the fact that this planet is filled with people who are hurting, scared and ignorant. We as responsible people with good temperament need to step up to help ease the worlds pain. :twocents:

It sucks that this is what we have become. That we (generalized public) allow this to happen. That we accept it as normal. That we don't punish strict enough. If criminals want to be criminals, then let them pay the consequences. If they have to fear the system for everyone else to be safe, then so be it. Capital punishment? I welcome it.

I don't know where you live, but that **** isn't normal around here...Thank God it's not.

As far as all of the Monday morning quarterbacking, I'll throw in my :twocents:...

As soon as I saw anything but a consenting fight by both parties, I don't think I could call the police fast enough.

If someone would have called the cops as soon as the altercation started, those animals possibly could have been arrested before the seizure happened.

Knife Lady, if you clicked on it, do yourself a favor and run a virus scan. Some of those places are notorious for boogering up your computer.

And acase20, what were you thinkin'?!
