    Auto knives!

Had a friend that used to set up at the 1500 and over 15 years ago he had a number of autos, mostly under the table. Got spotted by a plain clothed trooper showing one to a customer. Three troopers came in and confiscated all the autos he had and told him they would be in touch for a court appearance. Never heard another word from them. Hmm? Wonder where the knives went? Probably got destroyed right?

    Apparently its illegal

I noticed there werent any auto dealers at the last 1500 and overheard some guys saying they werent allowed and unless I was having a flashback I think I overheard an announcement stating no auto sales were allowed right at opening on Saturday. Its a pain in the ass and if I didnt have a crazy ex and 2 year old I wouldnt care one bit. But I do....and Im a nurse at a hospital that will cut you loose for anything right now due to "budget" concerns.BS..

They haven't been allowed there for years but the trade went on with the old "wink and a nod" till just recently again. Not likely that the confiscated ones ended up for sale anywhere but I'll bet every officer in central Indiana ended up with one till they were gone.

At the last 2 Indy 1500 shows the promoter (Dan) got on the PA (before the doors opened to the public) and told all the knife dealers not to have autos/switchblades on your tables. You could still buy them if you knew the right dealer/vendor to go to. :D

You may want to ask to have this thread deleted, and destroy that knife. :twocents:

Lighten Up Frances!! In most cases your not going to get into much trouble if any for having one and if you do it's because you have already done something more stupid/serious and the officer is just adding on more/additional charges. I have several friends who are law enforcement officers and they tell me that unless your acting like a fool and blatantly displaying it in public your probably not going to get in any trouble...A very high percentage of the time when/if you do get caught with one is because you have already been arrested for something else and they just find it on you or in your car/truck. In Indiana it's a Class B misdemeanor...which usually is a slap on the wrist and possibly a small fine.

Maybe so, but I think its pretty ballsy to try and sell an automatic knife on a public forum with over 8000 members with the majority being from Indiana. I'm kinda surprised that it hasn't been closed or deleted by the powers that be. Bladeforums might be an easier place to sell it.

i agree with brad. lol people get so worked up over the littlest stuff. i will tell you a funny story. i was sitting in a room full of police and pulled out my brand new benchmade infidel and showed them all. most thought it was a assisted opener and i said lol no fellas this is a otf switchblade and is illegal here in indiana, and most basically shrugged and continued to play with it.

really there is much more dangerous stuff out and about that they can and are worried about. i don't condone breaking the law by any means but i love it when so many people get so worked up over something so small, i mean if you can legally carry a gun, why worry about a switch blade, and on top of that most assisted openers are just as fast if not faster than a switch blade and require the same amount of pressure to activate. blah so serious.

lol to the original poster watch out the fbi has nothing better to do and is probably en-route to kick in your door as we speak

    sorry rant off

    Brad,

It may not matter to you because I have never been a customer of yours but I can say I will never be. Regardless of how stupid the law I cannot in good conscious give money to someone who is promoting breaking the law saying "you probably wont get in trouble":twocents:

I believe you have misunderstood my posting. First of all I'm not promoting or advocating breaking the law. In some of the posts on this thread the tone was like ...the FBI was going to break down your door and you were going to go to prison if you owned an automatic knife in Indiana... which is not the case. In my post I simply laid out the risks (minimal) and consequences (minimal) should you choose to own an automatic knife in Indiana.
