Which was really just a modernization of the Howdah pistol concept carried by tiger hunters in India in case a tiger attacked the elephant mounted hunters during a hunt.

Wow, you know life sucks when you have to fight off a Tiger with a stick...

Came across this web site with a plethora of Percussion Howdahs for sale..

    https://americanguncraft.com/products/

and if you watch the video you will see and older man reloading these percussion guns after shooting them. So much for just throwing them away after one shot. (two shots this case)

OK saw your Tiger attack and it lead me to this animal attack montage..
you know, some of these critters are not as friendly as those Saturday morning documentaries lead me to think.

Mine has a scope on it but it sure is a hoot to shoot! My oldest daughter was killing old eggs and small soup cans with it a couple weeks ago, smooth and super accurate, and no recoil to speak of.

When I saw this thread, my first thought was "AR pistol 'riding shotgun' ". These old guns have a lot more charm.

I think a mauser "broomhandle" with detachable stock would be an honorable mention

"sporterizing" milsurp weapons never has appealed to me but it is creative.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder how that worked out, putting a long barrel on a firearm chambered in a pistol cartridge since the powder is burnt before the bullet clears the barrel?

How would it be any different than a pistol caliber AR-15 in carbine/rifle configuration? Or a lever action in 44 magnum, 45 colt, 357 magnum, etc.. I have a Spanish Destroyer carbine (milsurp) chambered in 9mm Largo (handgun caliber) as well.

I just came across this. I picked up a 44mag handi and been thinking about shortening to 16.5 and adding sights. I think it has 22-inch barrel now. Would be used in hills and brush deer hunting. Have not made a decision yet. Convince me to do it or not do it. May even thread it but I doubt will ever put a suppressor on it.
