its early I am not in a rush, here are a couple pics of the process

This slide is getting two barrels fit to it, 9MM and 38 Super.

First thing I do is stone the slide hood to check for and smooth out any tooling marks. then measure slide and barrel hoods

.373 is a snug fit on the slide

you cant just remove material randomly from the sides of the barrel hood. they need to be measured to determine how much to remove from each side.

This is the system I use.
Mounting the slide and barrel horizontal in a vise and measure to left side of the slide opening and the right side of the barrel hood tells me how much material to remove from that side of the barrel hood.
Then measure total width of the barrel hood after removing the right side material and the difference is how much you need to remove from the left side of barrel hood.

I found this one interesting, Both KKM barrels and hood width is pretty close to the same on both but the amount to remove on this side of the hood is different on each barrel.
It makes no difference since the hoods are oversized and both sides still need cut.

    Next step
    Material removal

    20230819_071124.jpg

now measure and remove material from left side of barrel hood

    Barrel 1
    20230819_071926.jpg

    Barrel 2

    20230819_072013.jpg 20230819_072157.jpg

.373 was the goal which will allow for me to stone for final fit
    Got pretty close

    20230819_073020.jpg

When done cutting the hood like this the lower barrel lugs are centered between the slide rails

    20230819_074508.jpg

measure and cut hood length. this is a tool from EGW that measures the inside length from the breach face to the rear barrel lug 20230819_075029.jpg

    20230819_075103.jpg

Then just compare that to the barrel hood and trim barrel hood

    20230819_075206.jpg

ignore the .025 that was a left over measurement
