Well not to the guns themselves. But all common gun cleaning solvents, oils, and greases. She gets severe migranes, hives, airway swelling when exposed to petroleum based products.

So anybody know of any petroleum free gun cleaning products and lube? Synthetic is ok but a all natural nonpetrol would be best.

She loves to shoot. She just loves breathing more.

Whew! When I got to the "So anybody know of any" part, I thought you were going to ask if anyone knew of any nice single girls that aren't allergic to petroleum products... ;):):

Time for a new girlfriend. No, just kidding. Not really.

Might have to agree with you, take reasonable care of a gun and it will still look and function as good as the day you got it, not so much with girlfriends and wives . :)

Time for a new girlfriend. No, just kidding. Not really.

Get rid of the girlfriend and buy a few more guns.

    #10 - You can trade an old 44 for a new 22.

#9 - You can keep one gun at home and have another for when you're on the road.

#8 - If you admire a friend's gun and tell him so, he will probably let you try it out a few times.

#7 - Your primary gun doesn't mind if you keep another gun for a backup.

#6 - Your gun will stay with you even if you run out of ammo.

    #5 - A gun doesn't take up a lot of closet space.

#4 - Guns function normally every day of the month.

#3 - A gun doesn't ask , "Do these new grips make me look fat?"

#2 - A gun doesn't mind if you go to sleep after you use it.

#1 - You can buy a silencer for a gun

Birchwood Casey makes No.77 Muzzle Magic and its water based and has no smell at all. Its designed for black powder and muzzle-loaders but I'm sure it could be used on modern firearms.

You. Ought want to check out super quick clean guns. It's a great product. It's a dry lube, cleaner, and rust protection all in one.

My wife has similar problems as yours but the super quick clean guns does not bother her and it works great!

Sooo, she's able to shoot the guns, just has a medical condition which prevents her from *cleaning* the guns? Convenient.

I've used Tetra grease for years, it's non-petroleum based and works great for lubrication.
I don't know if MPro-7 is petroleum based or not, but it has very little smell to it.

Sounds like your GF has multiple chemical sensitivity.

    Not fun.

My mother has it.... Was rough growing up without being able to utilize ANY kind of "smelly good" stuff that teenage boys are wont to use.

Use a plastic - stainless steel gun, clean it with soap and water, use a blow dryer to dry it and use vegetable oil for lube. Probably not the perfect solution, but it will keep her shooting.
