    Outstanding!

One question on the article, how would the curvature of the earth affect a long distance shot? Something along the lines of how gravity affects shooting uphill vs. downhill?

C'mon... everyone knows the earth is flat. Point A to point B. Of course the rotation of the earth would have to be considered.

The guy had to stay still for over 10 seconds so it's not like he was running on the battlefield.

Don't need to be still. If walking, the stride is factored in.
That's what separates a good shooter from a paper target queen.

Then again, all targets should remain still. It reduces the required skill of the shooter. Maybe, if asked nicely...:dunno::rolleyes:

When I was a Gunner's Mate working on our 5"/54 caliber main gun, I became aware that our Fire Controlmen (the guys who aim and actually fire...we load and control the gun) did indeed have to compensate for both curvature of the earth and rotation of the earth, among the various other ballistic factors.
Of course, our gun would shoot for twelve nautical miles (15 statute miles), so you can see why that was a real factor.

I was told by a reliable source who knew about this before it was published that it took him 3 shots to connect with a center mass hit. A Night force scope was used as well as 2 periscope like devises to give an extra 91mils of elevation adjustment. A lot of luck involved for sure but still and incredible shot.

However heinous we may find members of Daesh and their sympathizers, they are human beings. They have homes and families and histories. No matter their crimes, their lives are valuable in the sense that all lives are valuable, and deserving of at least some degree of respect.

And a total lack of understanding. They probably dont realize that the man shot would likely cut the author's throat for being an infidel without even giving it a second thought.

Yes, and that only if he didn't have time for a more artful/painful method of execution.

The video said 400 feet of drop. That is incredible. I don't even know how to begin. I'm impressed when I hit a gong at 500yds. 2.2 miles is amazing. Lucky or not the sniper and spotter deserve the recognition.

History is full of people who rose to significance by doing the difficult/thought to be impossible. Rarely is it pretty and never is it a cakewalk. The point of issue isn't that he can do it every time blindfolded with his hands tied behind his back, or whether or not luck/happenstance was an issue. The point is that he did it. Thank you for making the observation that it is a meritorious feat both for the cause and for the discipline of marksmanship regardless of the particulars!

Incredible marksmanship. Bad guyDead. Many of our guys are not in danger from him. Many goats, little boys, and women no longer have to fear being raped by him either. Whats not to celebrate?

The other thing to consider is that it is impossible to defend against something 2.2 miles out...unless you never stop moving. Just suddenly leap sideways every 4 seconds.

Yet more evidence that the snowflake crowd doesn't understand that no one cares about their opinion. It holds no more weight than anyone else's regardless of how morally superior they believe it to be.
