Have kids, 5,8, and 14. On the night stand next to the bed. Started teaching my kids years ago about firearms and how dangerous they can be. They know which ones they can touch and when they can touch them.

Still working with my youngest trying to get him to back off the scope a bit and keep his body lined up with rife. After he grows a little more it shouldn't be much of a problem. Other than that, he's got the basics down.
Great job. Responsible training is always good to see.

Revolver on the night stand next to my glasses every night. Several others hidden and ready around the house. Kids are grown enough that they know where they are and how to use them as well.

Actually, I do have my Smith & Wesson 642 (with "Chicago loads") in my pocket or on my night stand purt' near all the time. Hopefully, that and my old Louisville Slugger will be sufficient. I have yet to feel the need for an AR, razor wire, claymores, or an SP 105 parked in front yard. ;)

I woke up one morning with my Ruger 357 blackhawk on my chest, my right hand holding the grip with my finger on the trigger. I don't keep a hand gun that close to my bed.

Have you ever tried? They might fall down laughing, bump their head on the nightstand, and suffer a concussion. :D

Great point, I just did not want to be charged with assault with a friendly weapon. Sorry, ran out of rep but I will try to get you back tomorrow sometime,

Resurrecting this thread for a good cause: the gf is uneasy about me keeping it on the nightstand. I understand her logic that it may need to be locked up in a quick-access safe if we have kids, but even then I think it is a judgment call and not a given. Would like some more responses on this thread!

well, they do have nightstand safes that are available as well, if that would make her feel better about it being secured. Have one set where its just about ready to open, so if you need it in a hurry, then you can use it right away. Course, depends on where that safe is too, and how big a safe you are getting. Make sure you get quality, but problem being, this is one you want bolted into the house, so no one can just walk off with it, meaning, she cant be rearranging the room afterwards, cause its not moving.

I have a holster attached to the bed for my G21 with a Surefire TLR2 light / laser combo attached ready to rock and roll. I don't have a large humidor but I do have 5 (almost full) that holds around 200 each :D

I've decided I don't want to mess with loaded weapons in my house. I just have command-detonated directional mines covering the doors and windows. Don't enter my house unannounced.

If the intruder(s) get past the ankle biter canines I have a M&P9 under the bed, Ruger 38 on the stand next to me, along with a Ka-Bar. Mother has a 38spl in her nightstand too.
