He wouldn't make it past the Republican primaries. He'll be another Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Santorum, or Rick Perry...the difference is that he's pissed off most of the Republican party before starting. Seriously, I watched the Repubs bat around candidates like a volley ball at the beach. I'm sure there were plenty on here, at one point or another, espousing how great Herman Cain was. They've got no chance and I keep hearing how "ZOMG LIBERAL" the media is and how the media "brainwashes" most Americans. If that's your logic then your own logic says if the media doesn't want Cruz to win the "brainwashed majority" will ensure it doesn't happen.

Either way, I guess we'll see. The Dems will most likely put up the first real female contender for the Presidency.

How did we get from discussing Cruz up against a Democrat nominee to the Republican primary...?

Also I'm not sure what ZOMG means, but it sounds bad. Do you really think the media is unbiased in this country?

ZOMG is a sarcastic way of expressing excitement.

The Cruz to Republican Primary thing is because the Republican party isn't exactly happy with Cruz. Before he can even get to a Democrat nominee he's gotta get past the throat slitting at the Republican primaries...I'm pretty sure this shutdown will be mentioned.

The "media" is how some idiots describe TV news networks and big time (and dying) newspapers. I tend to not watch much of it and there's websites galore for both sides. I tend to get my information from multiple sources (conventional and unconventional that's both domestic and international). It's why I hold beliefs such as "America leans right"...because if you go to any major website and ask non-Americans to speak up they'll tell you just how retarded they think the Republican party is. It really doesn't matter if it's true to you and you're more than welcome to go seek out these people to argue with them. It's what I see continually and that's just me being honest. That's not to say they hate the people, most that I've talked to say they love the people...especially the South. They just think our government is extremely right-wing.

Go out to any major website and read the comments, talk to the people, maybe it'll change how you think about things or maybe it won't. I challenge some of you to go out there and talk with some people from the Nordic countries or the Swiss or the UK. It's extremely interesting to get the view on how much our country affects other countries and how important our elections are to them. If nothing else, at least you'll get that much out of it.

I am sorry, I promised to ignore this person but...................... I should care what non-Americans think of the Republican party Why?
Most Nordic countries are Socialist (in general) to begin with so they would agree with the lefties more frequently. And Yes I spent a great deal of time in Norway, Sweden, Finland, etc. over the last several years (months, not days or weeks).

Ignore switch has been turned back on (someday I will learn).

It's certainly funny to watch the left get all bent out of shape, attacking Ted Cruz. Imagine a Cruz/Palin ticket? ZOMG!!!!

A C/P ticket would basically hand the Presidency to whomever the Democrats chose to run against them. I'm fairly open about not caring for either of their brands of politics, but my comment is not motivated by personal distaste. Those whose politics lean to the far right would be happy to punch that ballot, but it would be trivial to motivate the non-ultraright to vote against the ticket.

I'm hoping the Republicans are smart enough to run a couple genuinely moderate Republicans who are capable of competently running the country, but there's no use holding my breath. At this point I'm not even sure who has the qualifications and party support given the massive fragmentation and rush to the right over the last few years.

I am sorry, I promised to ignore this person

No one cares whether you use the ignore option. Posting about your ignore list makes you look childish.

If you haven't learned to not tell someone you're "ignoring" them, then you're too childish to be involved in any serious political debate. Come back when you grow up.

If it was possible to have a serious debate with you I would. If I am going to play with children it's more fun to act like one to keep from getting bored.

To put Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Santorum, or Rick Perry all on the same level is a very broad brush. It's kinda like The Easter Bunny, Obama, Patel working at the local Marathon and my grandma. You're right, the media would have a hay day spewing lies about Cruz. To say the media in America is unbiased is complete ignorance or arrogance. Hard to tell right now.

Nominating middle of the road, no real core beliefs, Republicans has been working so well for the GOP. But it appears we have people proposing they continue doing so... seems I remember reading "continuing to do the same thing over and over but expecting a different result" is the definition of insanity.

I am staying out of this discussion, except to insert my opinion that I think that we have passed the point of no return and will not recover, but will gradually pick up momentum in our movement downhill to eventually become a totally socialist state full of crime and corruption. We have a terrible bunch of people making a joke of trying to act like they actually want to govern us. There are too many people being taken care of by the government who would like for that to continue indefinitely. When the illegals get the vote and I do believe that it is only a matter of time, this country will be stuck forever in a downward spiral and have a society very similar to all other hispanic nations that are ruled by corrupt politicians and drug cartels. I do not think that it will be too long before the guys in black come for our guns and the executive orders of the current and past presidents are enacted and we will be placed totally under the thumbs of the federal government that will totally ignore the Constitution of the United States of America. I hope that I am wrong, but I have been watching the evolution of this country for the last several decades and it does not provide me with any optimism for the future.

"Moderate" doesn't necessarily imply "no core beliefs," just "not a screeching extremist." Maybe you'll get your wish this cycle and we'll see an extremist nominee, but I feel comfortable predicting a blowout if that happens unless the Democrats go just as deeply into their own lunatic fringe.

And no, that's not "the definition of insanity," because there is no diagnostic "definition of insanity."

I don't think it matters much about a candidate's ideology to get elected. It matters more how the ideology is projected and how it is made to relate to people.

Romney was a weak candidate. He projected his ideology in a way that made it seem like he was apologizing for his success.

Obama is ideologically far left if we must use a left/right scale. He projected his message with a level of conviction that left no doubt that he believed what he was saying. His hope/change message resonated with people. And people bought it. And polls show that now, after seeing that this man is not the leader his campaign implied, they want a refund.

I think a fiscally conservative, moderately libertarian, charismatic speaker, proven leader, could easily beat the ***** in waiting.

Unfortunately I don't think the republicans have such a person at the forefront now.

Oh god yes! Palin/Cruz or Cruz/Palin. Brilliant! Where do I sign up! Free popcorn for all! Whoopie whoopie!!!!!

What scares me about Cruz is he's very bright and is manipulating the system to leapfrog to the top. Not sure what he believes except assuming power. Very ambitious. Reminds me of the pol ( Martin Sheen) in Dead Zone (the movie).

p.s. This post is based mainly on info from the reptilian side of my brain. If you want to argue with a lizard be my guest........

I have to admit that the smarm Cruz has displayed of late is troubling.

I haven't noticed anything of concern. If anything, watching McConnell sell the farm once again has caused him to up the rhetoric a bit. Too bad for the folks that got fooled into voting for Obama didn't have any fights in the senate he led to display his character and flaws to nit-pick. A well received speech and the DNC, voting present, and beginning your campaign 90 days after being sworn in doesn't give much opportunity to see the man hiding behind the teleprompter.

Any politician that consistently caves to the radical leftist agenda currently being foisted upon us can no longer consider themselves a "conservative". McCain, McConnell, King, etc. are the reason we are in this mess.
