I'm sickened by the candid nature and ribbing: These CANADIAN geese are coming here, having anchor babies, taking jobs away from AMERICAN geese. This is a real problem and should be handled by immigration. I propose we write our senators and representatives and have them put a bill into motion to build a net on the Canadian/American border to prevent them from illegally immigrating into our country!!!11!!1!

    :D

If only the administration could be this strict when it comes to illegals on the southern border!

I hate geese, they're vile, evil, bastards, and many deserve to die.

Yes they have good attributes, but so do most serial killers.

I'm tired of the government, and the hippies telling us they're so special.

I once knew a man who approached a couple geese who wouldn't get out of the road, revved the engine, and they sped up and got out of the way. Some ***** tried to get him fired over it.

So, because he slightly frightened a couple ******* geese, that's a reason to cause his wife and children to lose there sole source of food and shelter?

Of course, he dont have a wife, or children, but she didn't know that, lol...

My point is. When you make a corporate complaint to a mans company, for scaring some geese, and try to get him fired. Bear in mind, your name goes on that report, and google COULD pair that name with an address, and you might wake up the next morning missing some valve stem cores.

    Just sayin.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to eliminate one of these fowl denizens of our communities.

I was in a parking lot near the corner of 71st and Georgetown. As I was slowly crossing in my truck, and exceptionally stupid goose walked in front of me. I slowed to a stop and the damn thing just stood there, close enough to my truck that it could have bit the bumper. No fear, no intelligence.

I wanted to just goose the gas and serve humanity and the planet at the same time, but I backed down.

    rhino out!

You know, it is ALMOST impossible to deliberately run over one of these nasty things. They sense when you are actually trying to kill them! Don't ask how I KNOW!

I am always secretly pleased when I see a Canadian goose that's been hit by a car. Evil creatures.

I always enjoyed letting my dog of his leash and watching him terrify a horde of them in the big field next to our neighborhood.

I use to drive a bus, at the Shelbyville Casino. We had a driver run over 2 geese. He was fired, and Police were called. Police called DNR. DNR, fined him $2500.00 EACH !!!!!

Why are geese protected? They're everywhere!

They became protected back in 1918 as part of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act originally with Britain, and later Mexico, Japan and Russia. Because of all our development in Central Indiana and the addition of very attractive landscaping and retention ponds, the geese decided to stay year round. These are not considered migratory geese, but resident Canadian geese and the protections are not as severe. Permits are available to destroy nests and remove eggs. I have had a permit for the past five years. A golf umbrella makes a nice weapon cause you never know when it might rain.

The Mississippi flyway is nearly back the early 1800 population level. And the east coast flyway is also making a comeback.

The problem is that deer hunting is more popular than hunting duck or goose.
