    Some good suggestions!

SVT40, Browning Auto 5 and Remington Model 8 are all on my rather lengthy wish list. You can't go wrong with a nice Model of 1903 or 1903A3 either.

Then, there is the Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mark I which can still be had for a reasonable price point. That cock-on-close action will surprise you, lightning fast and smooth as butter!

Another vote for an Enfield, but my preference is the No 1. Mk III. Or even a No. 2A (.308).

Winchester 1907 or 1910. I love 'em both. Maybe a Luger or P38, then M1, M1 Carbine. Now if you want to a collectable that will be a true investment, pick up a nice Colt Thompson or a WWII era Thompson. Best investments of any gun I have ever bought.

Stop making me drool, but that investment is extremely high, at the top end more than for a nice car.

Very nice, and you're right, nothing beats early NFA investment.

Your best investment would be an M1 Garand. I purchased mine a little over 2 years ago and based on what I see them selling for on INGun, it has double in price. They are so much fun to shoot and hear the ping.

Garands are nice but there are thousands of them. SVT-40 though, they are super nice and mine is now 15 years since purchase for $500. Matching magazines, pouch, bayonet and sling. Worth a lot more now as it is, I would look for one less matching and make it more matching if possible.

The .358 Win Savage 99s seem to be the most rare...... and priced accordingly.

    No kidding?
    Damn!
I actually held one in my hands back in the mid-1980s when I was still in high school.
The now defunct Ramrod Guns just north of New Castle on IN-3 had one.
Yes, I lusted after it at the time, but my lack of income made the asking price (I recall it was somewhere just north of $500 at the time) made it unreachable for me.
Come to think of it, any person today who could afford it would be a fool to pass up a .358 Savage 99 for just over $500!

Savage 99 EG are common, and most times in .300 Savage.
    Mine's 1935.
Always wanted to try one, in that chambering.
I think it a good looking round, and if my old eyeballs can't cut it with this EG, proly get a Remington 760 in .300 savage next yr.
Guess they made some 7600 in .300 Savage, 300 of them. Saw one on GB used, no box...........asking $850.

Kinda pricey, like the Grice .35 rem 7600 carbines.
