Like most people, they're probably OK with the taxes as long as it's the other guy that's paying them.

Yeah, gas tax pretty much hits most everyone. Even if you don't drive a car it still affects how much stuff costs. But some people's lifestyles may be such that the carbon tax doesn't affect them enough to get mad about it. Or, they're bat**** crazy. Either way.

Be interesting to get Sylvain's take on things over there...if he's not locked up...or healing. I imagine a rubber ball to the groin could put a person out of the mood to read INGO.

Nah, they'll be ok. I bet they said the same thing to US with our history or riots and protests here in US yet here we are still.

Please explain. That's a bit ambiguous. Not enough context.
Maybe he's French and they don't want a leader who tells the EU and the UN to **** all the way off on the carbon tax bull****. :dunno:

Also I would like to add that the UN needs to be told to **** all the way off on a lot of bull****.

But it sure gets the clicks and the ratings. This is the end goal.
An old friend and his family are vacationing there. I've seen several pics he posted on FB. Not sure if MSM is inflating, but it sure is happening.

He posted a rather large black mushroom cloud in the distance. Somebody touched off something big. (giant bonfire of tires and diesel)
He also posted a pic from when they tried to visit the Champs... You could see the Arch in the background, but in the foreground are protesters preventing them from proceeding.

You can only put these serious burdens on the populace for so long especially for this idiocy.

France seems to riot a lot.

Anyone know the demographics of who is rioting?

finally... I respect people who complain confiscatory taxes. That’s the sort of thing you could yell “ Vive la révolution!” About.

i head some countries actually go to war over taxes

Agreed, but we have had our fair share of rioting as well. The LA riots, Ferguson and Baltimore come to mind. Foreign nationals visiting LA in the middle of that probably thought our country was tearing itself apart.

I think the French people have a legitimate complaint. What I don't understand is if 70-80% of the people support the rioters then why cant 70-80% vote the current lawmakers out on their arse and bring in a more reasonable leadership?

Because they likes them some democratic socialism? They just don’t want to pay for it out of their own pockets? Just a guess.

Well that’s what it sounded like to me. I’d like some confirmation before I ask some follow up questions.

Not locked up yet.
I had to deal with protesters and roadblocks a bunch of times this week and the week before.

What is seen as riots is just a protest, with a few folks "rioting on the side".
Anytime you have a large protest in France, especially in Paris, you always have a few hundreds of folks who burn stuff down and throw rocks at the police.

Some come from all over Europe just to fight with the police (black blocks and hooligan groups).

Nobody was killed or injured, it was a peaceful protest (just "french style" with a few stuff on fire ... gotta stay warm).

We don't even call this a riot (the word was never used in the news over here), it's just a "protest with some minor incidents".

French cops are really good at crowd control. It would take a lot more violent actions from rioters for this to turn into a riot.
If you look at the weaponry used by anti-riot police units they can handle way more violent crowds very easily.

It was just another Saturday in Paris when they only use tear gas and water cannons.
