    If the valve doesn't reseal, it would be best to replace it, since it may not work as intended anyway. They are simple to change and pretty cheap. I had one that kept leaking. I replaced it in about 10 minutes.

    As others have mentioned, if the WH is 5 yrs or older, it's a good time to replace it.
    This is why I open mine annually. To make sure it is in good working order.

    As long as you have gas and dont have overly hard water. Yes.

    I looked into it and am all electric, and was told by experts that yes, you can do it electric, but its gonna suck.

    I was told in the long run, connecting to the gas line at the street would be worth it if I REALLY wanted to go tankless. But still not recommended due to limescale issues here. YMMV

    (Context: By really hard water I mean my lower element is totally covered with sediment within 24-36 months. )

    We are on the Rock so no natural gas or sewer for about 15 miles
