And yet, most citizens have no idea this is the case...
- Woman calls 911 when her ex-husband (who had repeatedly attacked and threatened to kill her) breaks into her Dallas home. For 17 minutes, she screams for help on the phone. But police take nearly an hour to arrive, after making a pitstop at a convenience store. When they do show up, they knock, but there's no answer, so they leave. Her family finds her body two days later. Fifth Circuit: No constitutional violations here.
Perhaps you should have explained that in your post instead of just posting the "facts" of the case. The way you posted it makes it sound like no police officers have ever done anything to protect the life of an individual or a group of individuals because they were not legally bound to do so. I could list numerous examples, including some by members of this board.
My thinking was to start a conversation, so purposely stated facts with what I had hoped was a conversation direction by stating citizens have no idea this is the case, so they do not prepare for it in any way. They should. I cut and pasted it from a constitutional attorney and scholar's blog without edit.
What I had hoped would be an interesting discussion has become a thread that I wish I never started...
