And to answer the question relative to the original story (links in OP): Would I walk her to her car? "Sure lady, just take off that shirt first". :lmfao:

Would I work (bodyguard) for someone like the woman described? Sure. I've already done such a job for people with whom I vehemently disagreed with their politics. That's the discipline.

She's not gonna like the price quote she gets, LOL. But, if she's willing to :spend: the $$$ required, her money is just as good as the next persons.

I actually was Jeff Smylian (sp) body guard, for a while. He owned a baseball team, and I patrolled around his house .....

Yep, I would. Great opportunity to inspire a change in someone's opinion. Instead, that guy chose to be a dick.

Yep.. Its as simple as that.. She already had rethought her position on firearms before she approached asking for help. She should have been helped, That's what responsible citizens do.

    Outside the coup
Given the tactics that group uses I would not escort her out. It is not stooping to their level to say no. That group has set up law abiding gun owners with ambush tactics and instructed others to do the same. Stooping to their level would be having your buddies threaten her and throw her in the trunk of their car and drive her away for a short distance so you could "save" her and prove gun owners are not bad. If I knew for a fact she was with that group then she is on her own. I'd probably wait around outside to make sure nothing really bad happened but she made her bed and needs to adjust her comfort level accordingly. She may learn something if she has to deal with problems on her own.

Pride and ego have never helped anyone, they only cause damage. Many people wouldn't help because of what she said, that's allowing your ego to play in to the decision. If a woman is asking for help, I would help

    Let's look at the scenario:

While I was walking to the door, I noticed the doped up potential troublemaker was waving his arms around, beating on his chest and (gesturing) at people like he was going to throw a punch while yelling, “I’ma f* you up! Y’all don’t want none!” and so on.

I think the wrong question is being asked. WTF would you "escort" anyone to their car? Why would YOU go outside? You've got a guy who's high and threatening people. Seems like a good situation to wait inside, call 911, and let the police deal with him. Even if you get to your car fine, you just going to leave him to pick on someone less threatening than you?

I think the whole story is BS, personally, but if we're going to deal with it as presented I think we need to rethink the question we are asking.

I voted "No." I would suggest the woman go back into the store and ask the clerk to call the police. I am not a hero, nor am I looking to be one. The woman is not in mortal danger, and there is time to wait 30 minutes for LEO to answer the call. She does not need my protection. I do not want to run the risk of a confrontation, or possibly having to shoot someone, unless absolutely necessary. In this scenario, there is no need to take the risk.

If the thug laid hands on her I would reconsider. I am not a fighter. No fight training of any kind. Ever. Best I could do is walk up close and put one in his ear. Then figure out how to deal with the others. Ok, I would have some plan for the play before I started, but you get the idea. I am not getting involved until it is very serious. Too much to lose.

I think the whole story is BS. Given the hypothetical situation I would indeed help the lady to her car. That's what gentlemen do. I might jokingly ask her what she had to trade or make some off the cuff remark if she had verbally accosted me as the fellow said just to let her know I didn't appreciate it. But in the end I'm going to my car and she would be more than welcome to tag along to hers. The odds of some crazy stoned tattooed person actually causing physical harm is pretty slim. And the handgun I'm wearing would be the very last line of defense.

#1, I have things to do.
    #2, I can defend myself.
#3, if it is an MDA setup, they won't risk an assault charge trying to lure me into pulling out my sidearm.

I'm assuming the poll goes along with the story, not just "gun for hire" type deal as others suggested in this thread.

I thinks the old saw applies, she must lie in the bed she made. Or maybe something about burning bridges...
