My little West German with my new Armalite AR-10(T) Super SASS. Only thing that has been changed from factory new is a "fat camp" JP forearm and the multicam hydrodip.

We are still working on booger hook control....and yes he is a lefty.

Niles, you need to post a thread about your home-spun 260 on SnipersHide once you get it going...I'm amazed by the velocities you are getting from that 18" 308 barrel.

Also I notice AAC has removed the 260 barrel from their website and its showing Discontinued at MidwayUSA...

I plan too... time has been in short supply as of late. :(

I saw that on AAC's site and Midway's as well.

I have a load made for the 260 I just need to take it out long and see how it performs and get some more pics taken. The 308 is still in load work up mode. I picked up some Berger 168 classics to try next. They should be good for another 30-40 FPS and have a .495 g1... if it works out that should be a nice dual purpose round (target/hunting).

I made it out to Young’s 1000y range today.

With the AAC-260 barrel on the stiller A/W action:
    AAC2012.jpg

I dialed 1 mil for 300y and fired groups of 5 on two loads 43 & 43.2 H4350 and both were on for elevation with the 43g charge hitting the bottom half of my 2" stick on dot and 43.2g hitting spot on. Dialed 3.3 mils for 600y and first shot hit dead center in the steel plate and the next 2 followed the first making a centered circle, it was 10am and the wind had not yet started to blow. Dialed 5.3 mils for 800y and these hit about a tenth high so 5.2 was where I ended up. Dialed 7.5 mils for 1000y and hit about .1-.15 mils high for 7.4 mils needed. 1000y group measured .2mils tall by .35ish mils wide or about 7.5 inches by 12 inches. My environmental data was 29.13, 88 degrees and 62% humidity. Once I got home I back checked the data on JBM and that puts me at 2885fps. The load used was CCI primers, unfired R-P 7mm-08 brass necked down and running about .003" neck tension with 43.2 H4350 and Berger 140 Hunting VLD's seated -.014 from the lands.

Next up the AAC-308 barrel on my R700(untrued) in a Manners T4 that has seen many a barreled action:

Since my last posting I have put a barrel bedding pad forabout 1.5" from the recoil lug down the barrel channel and took it to therange. Now I didn't bother shooting a 1000y but at 100, 300, 600 and 800 yards it would appear that the barrel pad fixed the issue I have had with fliers. 3 shots at 100 made a nice little sideways L measuring less that .5 CTC impacting about .1 mil high from center. After making an adjustment the next three were alittle tighter and right on the money. At 300 the lower node with winchester brass shot better than my high node with Lapua brass and continued to do so out to 800...very little wind this morning, I was only holding about .4-.5 mils of wind at 800

Judging from my elevation used all distances, 43.2g of Varget behind 175 smk’s is giving about 2480fps. I had pretty heavy mirage and I think that opened up my groups a little but even still I was printing groups under MOA vertically. I'd get 2-3 rounds that went into the same bullet splash and get excited or the wind would change a little and I would drift the next shot two or three tenths right... yeah, I’ll blame the wind;)

Finally got me new baby built. I have always wanted a "nice" gun so here she is. I am very happy with how it turned out. Hoping to get to range early next week to stretch her legs.

    Details:
260 Remington on an AR10 platform
Mega Maten matched upper and lower
JP 260 Remington Match barrel and comp
JP Handguard and the red is a JP heat sink for the barrel
    JP enhanced BCG
    Magpul PRS stock
    Vortex Viper PST 6-24 Scope

A big Thanks to Andrew and Alan for their help and suggestions in putting it together...now on to the gun porn.
