Feinsteins bill is radical in the extreme, and intentionally so, it gives her a lot of negotiating room. Republicans, as usual, are going to go into the negotiations asking for what they want, and a compromise will be struck somewhere in between.

If we get out of this with nothing I will be very surprised.

I agree 100%. I doubt that the proposed legislation from Feinstein as it stands now would pass. But I'm betting a permanent AWB similar to the 1994 bill will pass. It's going to hit two area's hard. First what they call assault weapons, second magazines for any firearm over 10 rounds.

Oh sorry, I should have used the politically correct term, "clips"

This is not 1994, I worked at a gunstore during the original ban, before the ban we hardly ever sold any military rifles. After the 2004 sunset military pattern rifles have become extremely popular and mainstream for defense, collecting, hunting, competition, they are everywhere now, the original AWB only passed by 1 vote, I don't think the support is there this time, the media just makes it look like there is.

I will happily eat my words if I am wrong .

The sheep are supposedly demanding something be done, but if so, is that really pressure?
If the politicians don't do a ban, will their constituents vote them out?
    Doubt it.
They (sheep) just want the gravy train to continue, the ban is just the topic of the day fueled by the media (and why it is fueled to the extent it is).

If a ban passes it won't be due to the public's pressure. Something sinister will be the reason.

Unfortunately for us the media drives the sheep. The sheep are bringing tremendous pressure on the politicians now. Back in 2008 I didnt think a socialist forgeiner could get elected president. I wont make the mistake of underestimating my enemy again.

I think you hit the nail on the head. This could just be the next step backwards for what we used to take for granted.

    Something's Up this Time

I'm afraid we're going to see some legislative action or even an executive order from the President clamping down on second amendment rights.

The fact the victims in the latest rampage were young children, I fully expect a full on media blast demonizing firearms and those who hold them dear.

I think the government wants to disarm the American citizenry, but knows a frontal assault will cause lot's of blowback. I think they're going to do an end run against us and chip away at the second amendment until they get what they want. They know an all out ban or confiscation would very likely turn extremely ugly very quickly.

This Beretta is worth around $650-$700.

My Beretta 92FS will look pretty but will be used much more.

I think the Beretta 92FS/M9 is a great choice. I'm a huge Beretta fan! I think you can get the 92FS/M9 cheaper than $650-700 tho. Depending on what you want but you could find one in the $450-550 range.

Good luck and let us know when you pick up the Beretta. You won't miss your WASR...

If the Republicans compromise like they do with everything else then we will not be able to negotiate much out of a ban. For example, the fiscal cliff issue...the Republicans came down from NO tax increases, then they only agreed on tax payers making >$1M and settled on tax payers making >$450K. The Dems started at increasing taxes on tax payers making >$250K and not identifying any cuts.

What did we get? Dems came off their $250K number to settle on $450K ($200K higher than they wanted but $550K less than the Reps wanted). Republicans have not back bone and come out the bad guys everytime we compromise...it's ridiculous.

That value was the total trade value. This new trade I have going on with all accessories is worth $1,000+.

Ew... Baretta fans... I carry an M9 (92FS) every day at work and I hate it; so many better options for a 9mm... :P

Anyway, expect some kind of ban. I doubt it will be draconian but it will happen. They're going to use a series of "baby steps" to implement their total ban that they want. Little by little, everything will be banned and later confiscated.

Of course I really hope that it all blows over, but I can't help but think that things are going to get worse before they get better. I'll be holding on to my guns just in case. I'd rather miss out on some $ than lose my favorite guns.

The economic impact of democratic elections on the firearms market IS interesting, though. It almost makes you think that firearms manufacturers might be slipping the dems some money to play up their "ban everything" talk just to boost sales and drive up prices.

Obama reminds of Carter, with the media behind him. If Carter had the media support Barry's got, he'd be a national hero

What don't you like about it?

Honestly, it's not a bad gun as far as construction quality is concerned and for the most part they're reliable. What I don't like though is actually shooting it. My first dislike is that it has a long and unusually heavy double action trigger pull. I've seen it on multiple occasions result in failures of the qualification firing we do every six months. Another aspect I don't care for is the guide rod assembly. They're cheap plastic rods that crack frequently. I would recommend a steel or tungsten guide rod if you have a plastic one now.

I say there are better options for a 9mm because honestly there is. When it comes to comfort and accuracy the 92FS is out-shined by a number of polymer and striker fired guns. The intent though for military use was obviously rugged construction and safety (impossible to discharge without actually pulling the trigger) and that's what they got. It's a quality made weapon but I just think that over time the Baretta 92FS has been outclassed by it's competitors.

I hope nothing comes of the whole thing.....But with anti gun liberal's leading the way and Republicans that are willing to negotiate anything, I'm afraid we are going to see something out of it. What, is anyone's guess.

I agree. if buyers are willing to pay because they believe the laws are going to change, then let them pay the going rate.
