"Catch-22." If you didn't comply with the proposed legislation, likely it would become a pretext to punish you for your gun ownership by financial or legal sanctions, or some other quasi-legal abridgement of your right to self-defense.

Yet another example of out-of-control marxism masquerading as concern for the children. If they really were interested in firearm safety they would be teaching kids safe and responsible firearm handling rather than teaching them to run away screaming in fear. Remember, in the sick minds of these people there is NO REASON for ANY citizen to have a firearm. They put their full faith and trust in the all-powerful yet ever-benevolent government of which they are a part.

What can we do? Starting at the next school board election PUT THESE PEOPLE OUT OF OFFICE! Sure, this is about Missouri but there is NO DIFFERENCE between MO and IN "educators".

I swear the teacher's union is trying to take over the world.

Not in and of themselves but they are a part of the overall strategy of the ruling class people in our government. The teacher's unions, of course, are among the most self-serving groups in our nation. They talk about their concern for the children and education but fight against anything that makes them accountable for actual results. If you don't agree with them, you are a "hater" and against education. It's typical radical tactics to silence any discussion or opposition to their bizarre positions. But by screaming loudly enough and throwing fits (think Glenda Ritz here!!) they make those with normal positions on the role of schools and the responsibility of PARENTS to ensure their children are getting the education they need seem to be nuts.

These same methods are currently being used by anti-gun groups and politicians as well. You see it also with the homosexual-lobby and the anti-children (i.e. abortion) lobbies. It's socialist playbook chapter 1.

Morons. I remember being taught about firearms in
middle school by our conservation officers. I don't see that
ever being an issue in Indiana. By the way, do they still have that? It may have been tied in with D.A.R.E.

This isn’t the first time Sen. Chappell-Nadal showed complete disregard for the privacy of Missourians. The bill is exactly like SB 124 from the 2013 General Assembly.
It went no where./QUOTE] Just another Vernon Smith-like pol. Put forth a bill with no chances.

So it can be used during the elections... "My opponent would not support a bill which would help to improve the safety of our children. The massacre at Sandy Hook is a reminder of what can happen when kids are around guns".

Nevermind that the registry would do nothing to keep the kids and school safe. Who cares about details?

A politician like that likely comes from a bulletproof district, already.

Wow have times changed. I remember in 5th or 6th grade doing a book report/class demonstration on guns with a class mate. My class mates mother brought the two firearms to school about fifteen minute before it was our turn. I recall the principal saying just make double sure they are not loaded. The session was done on a Browning A5 and a .22 single shot Winchester. We did our little thing and the guns left with the class mates mother when we finished. Was no big deal. FWIW that was in Jackson Mi. around 1973-74 time frame. Somehow I just don't see the same happening today.

As for the OP's link I am curious of the proposed penalty for non disclosure? I would not even consider informing a school district about anything pertaining to my private life.

I for one am about tired of this notion that the school system has control or authority for anything other than the education or indoctrination of my child. A perfect example is when my daughter came home with a save energy save the planet package full of cfl bulbs, low flo shower heads and a bunch of other green crap and matching manifesto to instruct us evil humans about how we need to change our ways. I told her that we wouldn't be participating and she was in real fear of reprisal if it didn't happen. I have made it a point not to negotiate with my kids, but I saw an opportunity to educate her about how things work in my sovereign household. I left her with explicit instructions that if her teacher gave her crap in any way I was to know about. The next day she came home and said a bunch of other kids decided not to partcipate as well. It would appear that the lesson over energy conservation was a flop. I was just stunned that the teachers would have the nerve to dictate what happens in my home. I have never been more vigilant over my kids education since then. My child is in school to learn and the only control I am willing to cede is that my daughter and the others that attend there are to be protected at all costs.

Exactly how it should be. The teachers are the lib tards in most cases, but the school boards generally more represent the local population and the political slant. The hard part is if a lib teacher gets "tenure", then it is harder to move them along out of a school system. It is the parents responsibility to monitor the classroom curriculum and ensure it is not politically slanted or motivated.

That particular program was not one by your daughters school. It was the state of Indiana that promoted that particular program. You should talk to your state rep and the governor about it. The teachers had nothing to do with it.

C'mon mrjarrell, we wouldn't want things like facts to get in the way of the gratuitous teacher bashing. Don't you know the only reason they went into teaching is so they could indoctrinate our children?

There exist some truly good, even truly excellent teachers. Most, even, I would say. But I'm not going to leave something so monumentally important as the education and physical safety of my child to strangers, no matter what their qualifications. Couple the lack of true fiduciary duty in my child's education with the fact that public school paychecks come from and are issued by the State, and it's a recipe to ensure the existence of private schools, and all the reason I need to champion homeschooling. Deny the State. How much do you trust government? Not enough to let them create a registry for firearms, and rightfully so. So why trust government with your children and your children's educations?
