On 7 August Honor Flight Northeast Indiana will take 103 Purple Heart Recipient's to Washington DC for the day. This is also Purple Heart Day. This is the largest group of Purple Heart Recipient's to visit DC as a Group.
These Vets have earned a total of 188 Commendations! Included are,
124 Purple Hearts
3 Distinguished Service Crosses
5 Silver Stars, 3 with Valor
49 Bronze Stars, 23 with Valor
1 Distinguished Service Medal
2 Legion of Merit
2 Combat Air Assault
1 Army Commendation with Valor
1 Gallantry Cross with Valor.
There is 1 Woman in this group that earned her Purple Heart in Afghanistan.
I'd like to invite everyone to a Welcome Home Reception at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Ft Wayne. 7 August @ 2000 (8:00pm).
