I was an art major, and am pretty open minded when it comes to such things.

Maybe in front of a zoo, kids museum, or if relevant to some event/book/notable.......yeah.

It's an out of place item that serves only as topic for discussion, a trinket to make some of the rednecks forget what a dump they live in.

It's stupid, and not art. Don't care how much creativity/work was put into it.

It makes no statement. It's merely a model of an insect.

    The statue is stupid, period.
And if it finds favor with those with the intellect over that of a child...........

I'm all for art so long as it's left in the realm of the free market. You have these cities and economic development committees who think crap like this is the savior to all that ails local economies. I'm surprised this was done with private donations.

It's adjacent to a park, maybe an attempt at expanding the kid friendly theme.

    Funny.

With past suicide/sexual activity/ robberies in the park I think the Sherman tank out front is pointing the wrong way.

Imagine some drunk staggering out of a bar and down the street passing by this monstrosity...

    Could be rather humorous. :):

They should put this with the next biggest stuffed cow and the big tree stump they built a building for out at the park. Which are things to go see when in the Mo.

The mans name in the article is Scott Pitcher. I believe he is the man who is involved in commercial real estate development and sales in that city.

And that place had TONS of money roll through it over the years.

Kokomo is a UAW blue collar town. That is why we have more churches and strip clubs per capita, than anywhere else in Indiana. :abused: :mullet: :n00b:

Oddly enough, they have taken the stop lights out of downtown and replaced them with stop signs.

They made all the streets downtown two way again.
It does make getting around much easier IMO.

I wish they would change the lights to flashing at night. Nothing annoys me more than sitting at a stop light in the middle of the night with no traffic for miles.

I think they are mostly on timers. There's a few on sensors, but I've never gotten them to actually work in a decent amount of time.

Most in Lafayette are on sensors. In a car, you don't have to wait long. If you stop in the right spot, they'll usually pick up motorcycles.

They are not timed at all either.....
well, unless you are supposed to stop at every. single. one. while driving down 31.

You have to speed to make the lights.... or so I've heard.

They have the sensors cut into the pavement on most intersections but it does not seem like they are hooked up. You can set there in a car with
no traffic to be seen in any direction and still have to wait minutes for a light.

Forget having them turn while on a bike.
Red looks green to me while on my bike. :twocents:
