Rare Wildlife Encounter!

I heard a rumor that a snowy owl had been spotted at the Indianapolis Regional Airport aka Mount Comfort Airport. So I took a drive out there with my camera gear and sure enough there was one.

That's pretty cool! We are right near the southern edge of their winter range, so don't get to see too many down here. Great picture!

I talked to some other people out there and they said it was originally spotted on Thursday, I also hear they found it there again today.

A Peregrine Falcon has been observed in the same vicinity over the past couple days; Jason, did you happen to glimpse it, too? That would've been a nice two-fer.

A friend of mine was able to stay longer, and got this photo on Saturday. I am going back out there today. I am told it is a hot spot for raptors.

I've never seen one here in IND, but did see one years ago stream fishing up in Michigan not far across the state line.

Beautiful predators and that's a very good picture.

Neat pic's. I climbed a very large pine tree a few years ago. After I got settled to deer hunt from my position, I looked around and one of those little whit owls was setting next to me with his eyes closed. I thought it was awesome. So I get my camera out and snap a pic. The little thing heard the click of the camera and about killed himself trying to get away. It was funny. but, I hope he did not injurer himself in the process.
