If you have to cash to get one you listed for tree rats you will not be disappointed in them. If you are in that price range don't overlook a used win model 52 or rem 540 there are loads of good bolt action 22's in that price range.

My tree rat rifle is a 1984 marlin 39a. Very accurate and I am into lever action's rifles. Take your time and get the rifle for you. I myself would look at the cooper and the Kimber rimfire. A leopold scope in 4-12.

What shoud i get anschultz sporter, cooper, ula or something else will mainly be used for squirrels.

I would take a serious look at at a CZ 452 Ultra Lux with iron sites or a CZ 452 American without sites. They won't break the bank and probably shoot better than you will. Out of the box my Ultra Lux will do 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards with iron sites. Bud's has them for $380.

    P.S.
WARNING......Buy one and you will want another.

The Ruger 77/22 is another outstanding .22 bolt gun. It has classic styling, is "overbuilt" for .22 and is available in a variety of configurations.

In my opinion, for the money you can not beat a Savage. I have a MKIIFV with heavy barrel. It's a tack driver. Way more accurate then I'm.

I have mine outfited with a 3x9x40 Busnell Banner Burris rings and Shooters Ridge Bi-pod. For the whole setup I have roughly $500 in it.

Here is a pic of some 5 shot groups. Wolf target match on the left and RWS rifle target on the right. I know the rifle is capable of tighter groups.

Son has a cz american, amazingly accurate will consistantly group center to center 3/8 and under at 50 yards and under 1 inch at a hundred with wolf match.

Am seriously considering the ula with a timney trigger very similar to the old 40x sporter which you can still order from remington custom shop for a lot more money than the ula.

Premium .22 for squirrels... first thing that comes to mind is a Browning takedown semi-auto. An original Belgian model is you really want premium.

have a belgium made atd not accurate enough for head shots, zero also changes due to the way the barrel mounts in the reciever.

Check out Savage's new Mark II TR. Get's really good reviews, and looks super cool. I am getting ready to pick one up to add to my 22 collection.

Not my picture, but here is the rifle with a Super Sniper 10x scope

:+1:Great rifles. I did the same thing, wanted to buy a good bolt 22 for squirrel. Looked at the Anschutz sporter but liked the feel of the 77/22 better. That was 24 years ago and it is still my favorite out of all my 22s. put a Pentax 3-9 variable scope on it and its a squirrel sniper system, nothing but head shots.

I have a 77/22 that was my favorite .22 until I got my first CZ. I have acquired 3 more CZ 452s since then. They are great rifles that shoot very well and are very reasonably priced. My friends that own rifles that cost 2-3 times as much hate it when I bring the 452 Varmint out!
