i agree with most, why mess arround just to save few cents? if u are cheap in the bullets get lead and u will be ok. 1/2 price than jacketed, i am cheap also and some times is what i do, but most time buy fmj when special to have stock.
Well, 0.357" jacketed and 0.358" cast bullets have been used on 9mm Luger practically since it was conceived. +0.002" for jacketed and +0.004" has worked well for me since I started reloading 9x19 in the early '70s.Before the police and military went to the 9mm, .355-.356" bullets were rare as hen's teeth and everybody used the 0.357" jacketed bullets that they could find. Never been any signs of pressure, but I always start with the lowest starting load and work up.
A 0.357" JHP is often extremely accurate.
Since 9x19 barrels range from 0.355-0.362" in groove diameter, there are some barrels that can not take a lead bullet large enough to produce good accuracy.
I would bet that when others try 0.356-0.357" jacketed bullets in their 9x19, they will quickly change their mind about what size bullet works the best.
you really need to slug your barrel to see what size bullet you should be shooting. what ever your slug measures you go .001 over for jacketed and .002 for lead. I had a taurus 92 that measured .3565. i shot 38 .358 lead bullets great all day long.
