Rem Action Cleaner?

I have an old 22 that has a disgustingly dirty action, based on a casual visual inspection with a flashlight.

Can I really just hose down the inside of the action without taking it apart with something like Rem Action Cleaner and let it air dry? That seems almost too good to be true.

Take the wood off and spray out with break cleaner ,same thing and lots cheaper.
